I feel blessed at the moment my lovely 8 week old daughter is sleeping from 11pm - 7am non stop every night, its lovely shes been doing it from 3 weeks or so
On the downside she has no naps in the day , so my misses never gets a break, but our teenage kids help somewhat
How did you build up to weening off the night feed?On the downside she has no naps in the day , so my misses never gets a break, but our teenage kids help somewhat
Ours is 10 days old and she is doing great (11pm, 3am, 6am usually), but im curious to know how you attempt to make them bridge that night time gap, as it were.
The first few weeks, our daughter would go into meltdown in the evening and start trying to rip her eyes out, it was a blood curdling scream, I remember rocking her for two hours in the dark in the pushchair! My partner was struggling with breast feeding as well. Then she switched to bottles and found it more straightforward, my daughter will cluster feed through the evening, then we would stay up until about 12/1am to do the last feed.
@ about 3/4 weeks Tabitha (my daughter) started waking in the night a bit, but as soon as she slept with us in bed she slept fine, after a week or two she started sleeping in her own cot OK, we didn't want to fall into the habit of sleeping with us
Then about 6 weeks in she just stopped waking at midnight and now sleeps from 11pm ish until I get up @ 6:30/7, has a feed then back to sleep till 9.
It is great, our house looks like a complete bombsite though as due to the lack of naps we never get time for any housework!
Still cant complain, as this one is doing well my misses wants a fourth child!!
34 week scan next week, they discovered that the chord only has two vessels as opposed to the normal three so they like to add in an extra two growth scans.
So far everything is going to plan and all measurements are slap bang in the middle of all the charts.
I'm finishing the furniture in the nursery off tonight, we already have quite a pile of nappies, baby grows, donated clothes, wet wipes etc so it's coming along.

Bit late joining the party as our daughter, Aoife Grace is 8 weeks old tomorrow. I did look for this post briefly when she was born as I needed to 'blurt' relatively anonymously as she suffered very severe Meconium Aspiration Syndrome at birth (when I say very severe, if you look it up, it doesn't really cover the degree she suffered - when I asked one nurse where she was on the scale, she said she was wildly off the scale!).
So she was born and transferred within a couple of hours to Addenbrookes NICU with a pretty poor prognosis in itself, let alone the risk of septicaemia and neurological issues. Cooled to 34 degrees etc. And amazingly every single day she just kept improving with a little improvement here, a little improvement there. We were fantastically fortunate due to her condition to be offered a room by the Sick Children's Trust, so I moved in immediately, whilst my wife was transferred as an in-patient from Colchester and then moved in with me once discharged.
In the end she spent 10 days there, before being transferred back to Colchester for a further 4, before coming home. It seems strange when you see some of these poorly kiddies who are weeks and months, yet she turned around so quickly from such a dire prognosis to come home (something her lead consultant remarked was 'amazing' about MAS).
We're loving having her home and will never be able to thank all of those who helped her along the way, as is her big brother (3 in December). Without making this sound like a 'downer' on what should be a very happy thread, I'm writing up her story for the NICU and SCT which I'll be happy to post here if people are interested.

What a lovely thread! Here is ours. For various reason, scans every 4 weeks. Due in February. She does actually have head and the squishy nose is from being pushed against the uterus. She's a proper groover, though ii'ts quite delightful at night, when i'm cuddling my missus and I can feel the kicks!

About time I posted an update! Introducing Freya 21/11/14 7lb. Induced labour was told prob be in hospital at least 24hrs before anything happened. She was born 7hrs later. Caught the midwives off guard a bit I think!! Was a bit of rush for me aswell
Congratulations! She is lovely. Whatever they are using for induction nowadays certainly works, we and a few of our friends can certainty attest to that!

Looks like the Mrs. is going to need her Gall Bladder removing.
Likely complications from the hyper sickness she had She cant catch a break.
Nora is now 5wks old, I think we are approaching the first 'mental jump' as she is pretty much inconsolable at the moment. All good fun!
Your poor wife . Nora maybe a combination of a growth spurt and colic? Is her weight gain good? It'll all seem a lot better in another few weeks.Likely complications from the hyper sickness she had She cant catch a break.

Well, we had our week 38 antenatal appointment today. Baby is fully established in position 'down there' and wants to get out. She dropped into place within the space of a few days after the complained of crippling hip and joint pains. The midwife commented that she wouldn't be surprised if she went into labour earlier than planned (6th Jan so far).
I was expecting to be posting into the parents of 2015 thread, however our little girl turned up three months early at 27 weeks +4, back on the 10th Dec following an emergency c section!
That was a scary few days I can tell you. She was transferred to Bristol where she is getting awesome care and (touch wood) is doing well, although there is still a long road ahead before her projected go home date of the 7th March.
Mum and I are sat with her as I type and I think she may had just filled her nappy!
Anyway Lilith Persephone says hello!
