so did 20 miles on the bike Tuesday, 4.2 mile run Wedesday and another 25 miles on the bike yesterday. Am torn as to whether to do anything today because I should probably have a rest day, but I'm on a course for work all day tomorrow and so won't be able to do anything tomorrow; I'm on the course for the morning and early afternoon sunday so will have the chance to do something then.
Can't believe donations....over £3300 now
Also got a letter through from the DVLA officially revoking my license was inevitable though, of course!

After a period of time does a letter from your consultant get it back or do you have to sit a retest or similar after you have been given the OK?p1stonhead said:

To be fair though, exercise is something I've always been extremely passionate about. You may or may not have read through the thread but I used to run to a reasonable standard and when I was competing a lot I was running approx 60-70 miles per week. Despite all that has gone on I just want to get back to my old self.... No different to anyone else in that sense. I ended up doing 15 miles on the bike today as I wanted to do something as I'll be busy tomorrow. Plan on doing around the 30 mile mark Monday before work or Tuesday when I'm off. Well done - amazing acheievements you are doing considering!
In other news I got an email from the CEO and founder of Brain Tumour Support thanking me for fundraising etc and they'd like to meet up with me at some point soon. I pass their thanks on, for its all of you guys who have donated to them!
Have a great weekend everybody.
Today is my first day back at work.... Only doing 2-7 and have a little break until my next patient.
Certainly a big stage in my recovery today. Was a bit nervous earlier but all is OK now I've seen a few old faces and had another new patient as well.
Waiting for the charity to get back to me and send out collection boxes which I can have put in the reception at work.
Did another 25 miles on the bike last night and also a 5.05 mile run this morning and didn't need to stop.... Breathing still an issue but PERHAPS marginally better.

You're probably fitter than 95% of people on here.Certainly a big stage in my recovery today. Was a bit nervous earlier but all is OK now I've seen a few old faces and had another new patient as well.

Maybe so, but if you knew just how much hard word i've put in with running in particular over the last 12-13 years you may understand how frustrating it is to have that ability taken away by something not my fault.....but I just need to set new targets and be realistic. 5 months after major, life-saving brain surgery and I'm out running and cycling at a level still better than the majority of the population isn't, I suppose, something to be sniffed at!First day back at work went quite well. I was probably busier than I'd have initially liked but it went quite well. Was struggling a little with my speech towards the end but it wasn't too bad. Soon got back into the swing of things. Great to see some old faces, and some new ones.
Day off tomorrow before back in Wednesday.Only doing 5 hours then, and Friday but already basically fully booked!
Life is getting there again and I can't stress how happy I am in NOT being sick every single day. Absolutely amazing!

It's so easy to take good health for granted. It's very true that you don't know what you've got until it's gone.
Definitely!Just got back from a 30.8 mile ride. Pace wasn't as quick as I'd have liked at only a 15.5mph average but was a hilly route and seemed quite windy! Having this thing in July gives me additional motivation I think. If I'm getting tired I just think "I'm doing this for charity and all those people who have kindly donated!"
Thanks chaps.
Come on chaps! See if you can find anyone to donate some more
Few minor updates.... The Daily Echo have been in contact and will be running a piece on me, they're coming round Saturday to take some pics. That's not going to harm with publicity. I've also "bigged up" Southampton General neuro dept in the hope they get a mention because they really deserve it in my opinion. Especially after all the negative press lately.
They say pics speak louder than words so.... Here's the result of this mornings bike ride....
Sorry, you may need to tilt your head to read that properly! Over 35 miles at a 16.6mph average. Pretty pleased with that to be honest, considering its just 5 months post-surgery. Just upping the miles. Will do around 20 miles tomorrow I think.
Keep spreading the word if you can.... I think £4000 is achievable but I'd be absolutely over the moon if £5000 could be raised (not that I'm no over the moon with it at the moment!)
