Been doing more cycling and whilst my hip isn't quite right, it doesn't appear to be aggravated by cycling at the moment.

Bit miffed though....with around 10 miles left of my ride this morning the rear mech wasn't shifting right and got worse, by the time I got back I had 1st-6th at the back (out of 10 gears). few hours later I take it to my local bike shop....need a new lever set (common fault after around 10-15k miles on this set...same happened to my mate) and they retail at £190!!

Luckily, the shop price match and I've found them online for £96 so after labour looking around £125 or a bit more I'd have thought. Bit of a kick in the teeth but would rather it now than July!! Should get the bike back Wednesday or Thursday.

Annoyingly, my hip isn't quite right yet so may need a couple of weeks off....wouldn't give me much time until the end of July to train then!! Although I'm confident I could finish it...just be a bit harder, that's all!

Haha, wouldn't go that far!

Donations keep trickling in, now on over £5500!

Potentially will be in the Daily Echo tomorrow, if so I'll put the link up here, though obviously it won't have any more info than is already here!

Massive favour to ask a few people....

If any of you wouldn't mind taking literally 2 minutes to register with the Aviva community fund project (don't worry, having done it myself I can confirm you won't get bombarded by emails!) and cast all 10 votes to Brain Tumour Support!

https://community-fund.aviva.co.uk/voting/Project/...

Many thanks to any of those who can do this for me, the charity, and who they support.

On another note, I've got myself a Garmin Edge 1000 for cycling....one of its features is a "live track" function. This allows friends, family members etc etc to follow the cyclist online using a link. I plan on doing this for my 25th July Sportive. For any of those who would be interested in this PM me your email address, I'll add it to a list and on the day of the event I'll add the addresses to those allowed to follow me so, if you want, you can see my progress!

Thanks chaps

Just at work... Got 10 mins until next patient but I've encountered an annoying problem. I've now got quite a deep ache at the base of my skull (suboccipital area) which is worse with talking a lot.

Just got my colleague to give my upper neck an adjustment which has helped a bit but it's irritating. Lots of tasting my own medicine then over the coming weeks.... Doing the exercises and stretches I give patients for this region. I suspect they're working as accessory muscles and working a bit harder than normal.

On a lighter note, my bike will be ready tomorrow (and my wallet will be lighter too!).

Thanks again all.... Over £5500 on the fundraising now!

Doesn't help that my job involves a lot of talking though!

Will the upper neck adjustments resolve this issue in the long term Ross? Is this expected?

Adjustments will help but they won't be a cure. The cure will be for me to ensure I stretch various muscles out, and work to strengthen those now under more stress.

Not something I expected as such, but it shows I'm having to work a bit harder than I'd like. I'm confident that in time the muscles will strengthen, my speech will improve and these symptoms will diminish. Sadly it's just a waiting game!

In other news my collection tin at work was full so have brought it home to empty it and will take another in tomorrow. There's around £80 in there I think biggrin

Not much to report. Back out on the bike after my break down, and feeling good. Been cycling to work (around 19 miles each way), but instead of doing both ways I've been cycling in, get a lift or the train back home, then a lift or train to work in the mornings and ride back the next day.

Donations still trickling in. A friend of mine is a manager at a large company and said they'll donate £1k or so, which would be amazing. A best mate of mine said last month he'd put some money in come pay day at the end of April. That didn't happen. 2 weeks ago he said he'd do it at the end of May on pay day and still hasn't yet hehe I feel cheeky if I keep asking...so I haven't; but he did say he would! I have found a lot of people have said they would donate, yet haven't.

PH has been the best bunch by a mile biggrin

Someone irritated me somewhat this evening. They asked how I was getting on in relation to recovery etc and then said "it could have been so much worse and I should feel lucky"

Really pisses me off that. I just said they should consider themselves insanely lunch my, then, because it didn't happen to them at all!

What would you say?

Sometimes people aren't sure what to say and they mean well, but come out with stuff that sounds wrong, even if the sentiment is good, sometimes words are a bit clumsy, and people arent very good at using them.

I'll say one thing... it is sweet your charity jersey matches your bike so well!
Did the charity re-brand to match the Bianchi?

Now you have the Garmin1000 have you found strava yet?

Haha, they do match really well! Although that was purely coincidental!

Not using strava, I just upload my rides to Garmin connect. Not overly fussed with strava etc personally smile
