Update for any that are interested. Was made temporarily medically unfit, then unfortunately permanently medically unfit.
What was that about? And what weight did you run your best time at?

Surprised me about the Marines not being like in the films, i.e. huge wall of muscle (like the OP), suppose if you liken in to cars, you dont generally use a big muscle car for racing.

I guess any weight, even muscle beyond what is needed to do the job is just extra dead weight to carry and you need to be 100 percent tuned to do the job.

I used to work for a newsagent who we all knew had been in the forces, and not just a regular soldier, many rumours about what and where but I assume he was a marine, probably about 5 ft 7, not skinny but no evidence of vast strength, looked like a newsagent, as a strapping 6ft paperboy who wasnt averse to a scrap I secretly thought he would be easy meat, not that it was a problem, a nicer more placid bloke you couldnt wish to meet.

Anyway, one day the local drunk (Sakko) was getting lairy and despite being asked nicely wouldn't leave and started knocking stuff over, this bloke was over the counter and had him subdued in seconds, arm round his throat and dragged him from the shop, I was gobsmacked and it confirmed to me his credentials beyond all doubt, credentials as something millitary and well trained that is, not as a newsagent.

If you want some help before September then drop me a line. Our trainer was ex forces and works on both fitness and nutrition. Our results have been pretty staggering. He doesn't use a one size fits all umbrella either. He's in Leicester. Well worth the money.

Me too! There are two of us currently that are larger than average and you're right it's generally unusual to see bigger chaps in the Corp ive seen one so far. The vast majority you wouldnt look twice at in the street, yet they are absolute nails and a quality bunch!

Indeed - Good stuff smile

It's not the size of the dog etc...

You'll find yourself getting down to a really nice lean fighting weight. I was the opposite, I gained 10kg.

my little bro is 5,10 and got down to mid 80's through YO training, he's now at 45 and is just sub 100kg.

most of his batch were thin, apart from the core commission guys who were pretty stacked already.

Well done on your progress. How long do they say it should take for you to finish the whole RMR training?

I joined at 75KG and ended up 82-85kg on passing out. There was some muscle mass gain but mostly because they told us to take on about 4k calories a day! When you go on field exercises you start thinking about the junk food you will smash on return to camp. There's a burger van called "dutchies" which is open until the early hours and even allows you to have a tab set up. Pure junk food but when you've been living on biscuit Browns for a week it hits the spot.

What continues to surprise me is how st military food is. Food in the galley got worse on the introduction of Pay As You Dine and I want to know which politician had a massive back hander from Sodexho. In Norway our Navy chefs asked the MOD for more money to buy decent food. The reply was "increase calorie intake using pies and deserts". A bag region is usually a soggy sandwich with biscuits, a hard as fk Apple, crisps and chocolate. So glad I live on quarters with my family
