Lifts have been fairly low all week and toilet trips frequent.

Gym seems a bit quieter at the minute, not complaining though as Ive hit a few PB's in past 2 weeks

I've not been ill but I've been injured for about two months. Went for a two mile fasted run yesterday then did some bench. After a few warm up sets, I tried to see how many reps I could do on 100kg...

2, 2, 3, 3, 2.

Sickening drop off in strength seeing as I managed 11 reps straight last time I tried. I hope my strength comes back quickly.

I wondered about this the other day as I appeared to be pissing out of my rear end. If it passes through so quickly, does much get absorbed in the way of nutrients, protein etc?

I don't think I have posted in here what my goals are or what I am doing about reaching them, but I am very happy about what I managed yesterday!

I have been hitting the gym harder than usual and with more focus, but also, eating more protein and eating more in general. Cutting down sugar and crap in the process as well and drinking more water.

I haven't quite been able to hit my carb/protein/fat goals, mainly because trying to fit in 300g of protein a day is rather hard IMO!(not my idea either, but my gym instructors). But I have been able to do carbs frequently at that level and have kept fats to under 30% by calories too (heard this value before for swimmers).

Yesterday I was racing. Just sprints, but while my freestyle 50's weren't any quicker than usual, I took over half a second off my 50 fly! which ain't bad considering I don't really do fly because it ruins me in very short order.

And proving it wasn't a fluke, I went 27.2 doing fly in a relay at the end which is another 7/10ths off (it doesn't count because of the rolling start, though that is generally worth about half a second, so I am going to claim an extra 2/10th there!).

I put my 50 freestyles down to having to do 3 of them in a row within minutes of each other after just getting out of the pool from the 50 fly. On the first one I was last in the relay and we were 3rd or 4th, in no mans land. Couldnt catchup so just swam enough to keep position. But I hit low 25's for them all which is good consistency with not a lot of rest.

The gym stuff I have been doing seems to have really helped with power in the core, explosive power in the legs and strength in the shoulders. I think I might do fly more often... might even see if I can keep that kind of pace up for a 100 at some point! Sub minute 100 fly would be nice!

Yep, going back too soon and trying to train injured is my problem as well. Then after all the time off you have to get yourself motivated again...
