I should have asked all of these dietary questions back in May, when I started, would have been 12 stone by now..
My aim was/is to get to 12 stone and then start to eat 'normally' again (but this time, without the 'crap'), while at the same time continue training 5 times a week to add more lean muscle..
ETA - would this protein powder be better for me?

For weight loss? Rather eat my protein and calories than drink it.My aim was/is to get to 12 stone and then start to eat 'normally' again (but this time, without the 'crap'), while at the same time continue training 5 times a week to add more lean muscle..

How is eating normally not eating crap?
I've been taking maximuscle cyclone in the morning with oats and natural yogurt and then post workout as a shake. It's expensive but i got a few tubs at near half price so thought I'd try it. Has creation and lots of amino acids, etc and has been working well for me.
It's loaded with dextrose though so not ideal for cutting!

This isn't bad at all - but it's not a 'lean' variant. However, the calories aren't that much higher than the lean versions.
Im struggling to put weight back on now.
I had a great few months of cutting and got to the point where I looked a bit too small, so have gradually been increasing calories again, trying to add mass without adding fat.
Im keeping up the cardio to help keep fat off and to keep me healthy, but eating back the calories I burn off. Currently up to 3,400 kcal clean and not adding any weight or fat! Im feeling the benefit of eating more though, getting stronger and feel a bit "fuller".

Mmm. I wasted 12 months focusing on reducing fat (started at about 72kg, 5'8", BF% 20-25?, some muscle from climbing). Then I focused on eating more, lifting heavyish and doing sports regularly. Everything is moving along nicely.
I never knew you were a fatty always assumed you were 7 stone wet

Blimey, Christmas has already pushed me up a belt buckle, this is not good at all!
Over the past few years I've always put nearly a stone on over the Christmas break, nothing is out of bounds, and I've just excepted that's the way it is. But I've worked hard over the past few months and I'm in danger of throwing it all away, so I've set myself a challenge to see if I can actually shred a bit of fat between now and the New Year! It's going to be difficult, I'll not have access to the gym, but plenty of body weight exercises, long dog walks and chucking my solitary kettlebell around will be enough if I'm disciplined.
Anyone else going to struggle over Christmas?

I am having a week off training over Christmas, by then I would have been training solidly without a break for over 7 months.Over the past few years I've always put nearly a stone on over the Christmas break, nothing is out of bounds, and I've just excepted that's the way it is. One thing I am determined to do is not put on weight, like you, I have worked too hard to get it off. I will have my usual Xmas turkey dinner, but that's it, no sweets, no cakes etc. I will have a few drops of Johnny Walker, though...
I don't want to spend the first month of the new year trying to get any excess weight back off again.

With diet. I always do, I love my sweet.Starting skinny bds 3 with a gym bud to see if she puts on the weight and I said I'd do it as well. It has cocked up my running this week, and I am relying on my running to help trim the fat.
The scales in the gym, the ones that don't lie say 105kg.....oops that up 3 from last month, which is a bit annoying as I was aiming for 100kg.
This time last year I was easily hitting sub 20 minute 5ks and 6:45 ish for the 2k row. I ran on Monday and managed 22 minutes for 5k and just about managed to stay upright! Adding extra weight really does hinder cardio work and I thought pull ups were extra tough this week.
So the challenge is set......Christmas reduction!!!!

140kgx4 box squat tonight. Only thing I did differently was use a belt. The core stability it gives you is incredible but don't want to rely on it more than I have to.
Did 4x120kg below parallel normal squat after (without belt) which is still a PR so all good.
I've bought a reasonably priced pair of lifting shoes which I'm going to try next week and experiment with more knee flexion and a more upright torso instead of being so hip dominant.
