Use an electric bicycle to get to work using the assist, cycle back home without. Electric bikes are quite heavy, so it should be a good workout.

Got to admit I'd find it difficult if I had to keep those sorts of hours at work in addition to having a kid to pitch in with. I guess you just have to make the time and not allow yourself to make excuses. I work 0730hrs till 1600 hrs but with the commute I get in anywhere between half 4 and 5.

The dog gets an hour per day come rain or shine, winter or summer. The poor bugger is getting on a bit now so it's quite a genital one these days-we used to jog.

I'll run on average 5 times per week anywhere between 3 and 6 miles. My routine is to get in from work and wlak the dog, by time I have some food do stuff round the house it's after 8. I often don't get out for a run till after 9 but just the pattern I've got used to.

I struggled with finding time to exercise - two young children, busy job at an office with no showers etc. So I went for the only time that could possibly work, and set my alarm for 5.15am every day and ran 4-5 miles before anyone woke up. I've been doing it for about 10 months now and - coupled with a bit of healthy eating (although to be honest, not that much) - I've lost 2.5 stone and feel great.

All my friends are amazed that I have the will power to get up that early every day, and frankly I'm amazed at myself, but once you start, and you completely commit to it, it's incredible how you become almost addicted to it.

I've been doing parkrun as well every Saturday and that has become a good measure of how much I'm improving (e.g. I started running and coming 400th out of 1000 runners, and these days I'm likely to be in the top 20-30 runners).

Don't you mean bungalow wink

I have a cross trainer cum exercise bike in the dining room and usually do 30 mins at least 4 times a week. I have a telly in there as well to alleviate the boredom.
You could do this after you have put the kiddies to bed.

Similar situation to me, I get up around 5.30. I have my weights etc set up in the garage so I can just crack on before getting ready for work. I also have a young child and there is very little chance of me getting any time to myself when I get home from work...

I used to have a dog that I would get up to at this time to take out for a walk but he doesn't live with us now, so it hasn't been too much of a shock to the system getting up so early.

Having said that, I do sometimes find that the process of going from being asleep to being fully warmed up ready for a workout is a painful one frown

It's about making time. It won't be easy I'm sure but if you really want to do something about it you will find a way. There have been some great suggestions already.

How badly do you want it? smile

If your goal is to lose weight, just sort out your diet and exercise at weekends smile

Exercise isn't necessary to lose weight, it just helps.
