Ok, bit of an odd question, but my right knee has been bad for a while now, and seems to be getting worse. I have developed a loud clicking noise in it, that seems worse after a game of football, but it isn't painful when it clicks. However it does ache when I'm sat with it bent, and it needs to "click" to relive the pain!

Who is the best person to go & see? Doctor first, or Physiotherapist? Any thoughts on what the injury is?

Reading through various medical sites a torn cartalidge seems to be the favorite at the moment?

Mine have been like that for years. Was referred to a physio who gave me a set of exercises that seemed to exacerbate it and took a couple of hours a day to do! Who's got time to do that!?

If nothing is damaged try a foam roller, I had tight IT bands after squatting, my pt recommended a series of stretches and rolling the legs, helped me a lot, I no longer have clicking knees.
If your worried though see a pro for some advise and take it from there.

Yep it does sound like cartilage I had the same thing 15 years ago, constant clicking with no pain. It turned out to be torn cartilage getting trapped in the knee joint
I had an Arthroscopy and they snipped the offending piece off.

Just had this myself. Been off work for 3 months and going back to work tommorow, though this was due to fluid not going down on my knee but I had exactly the same issue, clicking and sometimes knee lock into place for a micro second and then when it freed itself it was a sharp pain. Cartilage kept on getting caught in the movement of the knee.

Group Captain Ian Sargeant. He's a surgeon, but happens to be in the RAF
