Last night I had five pints. Excluding the calorific content of the beer my intake yesterday was in the region of 1000 KCals, today, up till now, I have consumed perhaps 300 KCals. I conclude that this study is of dubious worth.

I conclude that you are an alcoholic and that your results wouldn't affect the trend.

Before that I had been dry for three days, funny kind of alcoholism.

I don't need any alcohol to eat a kebab. Or isn't that what they meant? biggrin

Actually, after hearing about how many different sources of meat might be in a kebab, I'm somewhat put off. If I wanted mixed grill, I'd order mixed grill!

Anyone who uses the phrase "dry" to describe alcohol abstention is suspect as far as I am concerned.
In any case, I don't think your description is that of an average person. Eat 1000 calories, drink 5 pints and nothing more and it to have no impact the following morning. That isn't normal. You cant have 5 pints without having an extra 5 and a curry. Everyone knows that.

A mate of mine worked in a Kebab shop whilst we were at Uni and he reckoned that the big elephant leg thing can be picked up frozen at wholesalers for about £1.50 (this was in the early 90s). That told me all I ever needed to know about what was in Kebab meat.

Thanks for the advice.

Do they sell chilli sauce at the wholesalers, too?

When I was at uni there was an urban myth about health inspectors finding 3 different people's sperm in them...

It may have been a myth but I havent eaten one since.

No chili sauce sadly - but from the same retailer you can buy giant tubs of precooked meat - yum!

Lol, what - sperm in the big elephant leg thing? Are you insinuating attempted canine/equine impregnation of the poor animals prior to mincing?

TBH, as long as it does not have sperm in, and that it is meat, of any kind, I could not care what animal it is, as long as it tastes good, along as I'm not going to die from eating deceased rat.

i regularly have kebabs when sober, so there is no, "you will eat a kebab after X amount of pints"

+1, used to have kebab tea at uni quite a bit. Nearest 'shop'!

Telegraph link is total nonsense of course, there is no rule when it comes to personal preference. That's like saying everyone wants a fight after 5 pints. True for some, but some of us just want a kip.
