Just looked at the paperwork and you are right! It is a sigmoidoscopy. I didn't realise!

Is it just a case of the sigmoidoscopy not going as far up?!

Sigmoidoscopy is a much shorter one --no going around bends type stuff--30mins max.

Easy peasy, you will love it.smile

Hi,
I'm having a colonoscopy tomorrow, on average how long does it take. I want to arrange a pick-up.
Thank you.

Guess it depends on what sedation you have chosen. The operation itself will be about 30-45 mins overall but perhaps an hour after before they let you home.

If you have sedation it will take a bit longer as they like you to have a biccy and a cup of tea before they let you out. Say 90 mins.

If no sedation then can go as soon as you get your kit back on.

Opted for sedation, what ever they offer, just throw it at me.
I keep laughing at the picolax thread. Epic.

Time will pass quicker with sedation--i.e. you wont be really awake as such.

Only trouble I find with having sedation is that you wont be able to give a 'whimper' wink if they are a bit rough with you, so could end up with a 'slightly' sore inside.

Without sedation you can tell them to take it a bit more easy if you feel something.

Sounds as if you ran into motco's Law of Universal Incompetence.

"Always assume that whomsoever you are dealing with is incompetent until, and unless, they demonstrate to the contrary"

It applies across the spectrum of trades and professions.
