Bit of background 44yr old and injured my knee playing football last year, Ruptured the cartilage and damaged all the ligaments lateral and medial but fortunately didn't snap the ACL just strained it.

This was the second time I had this injury which was successfully recovered from 10yrs prior via and Arthroscopy.

Ive had another Arthroscopy operation to remove the ruptured parts of the cartilage and it has been trimmed to remove the tears, This was back in November.
Unfortunately I haven't had the same recovery as I had previously and the knee joint now feels like a ratchet for want of a better description and it dosent feel stable at all. The specialist has said that due to a lot of the cartilage being removed this is a natural feeling and it is fine, Its just a confidence thing. He encouraged me to push it a bit harder than just walking. I basically played 2 shots in a warm up on a badminton court and it gave way, swelling up which when the fluid was drained contained blood showing that damage had been done again.More rest as ligaments had been strained again.
Specialist (NHS) has basically now washed his hands with me stating that its the best it will ever be now and that basically no impact sports on the knee should be played ie running football etc etc all the sports ive played for the last 38yrs !
Ive hung my boots up as football would be stupid but still want to be able to do things like badminton tennis etc so after a long ramble want a recommendation for a very good knee support for lateral movement or a recommendation to someone I can speak to about one(Essex Area ideally).

Short version.... Ive got a bad knee and want a recommendation for a decent support !

Any help or guidance greatly appreciated

Get a bicycle, get the saddle set up correctly then use it. You will naturally build up the strength and confidence you need in your knee over time.
