I needed mine done and got an appointment at the local walk in centre.

After two weeks of blocked ears, they looked in my right and said no they couldn't do that one as they would see the eardrum. They did the left one and it worked a treat.

By the time I got home the right one was now totally blocked. Fantastic!

So I went to Tesco and bought an Otex kit which includes a flush bulb and softening fluid. 5 minutes after getting home I was Clear to Hear again after flushing it out myself.

Obviously this is at your own risk but it was a darn sight better than being deaf for another few days until I could go back again.

I have a silicone bulb I got from the US when my ear blocked up, I think you can get them here, it works a treat! It does need a bit of patience but I haven't had to have mine done professionally in many years.

Apparently doing it when not necessary can exacerbate the situation because the ear ramps up wax production if the canal is too clean, so use with caution.

I got my ears done this evening with micro suction at the Clear Ear Clinic in central London. The difference in my hearing now is absolutely incredible, I haven't been able to hear things this well for years!

It cost £80 which was OK for the convenience i.e. short turnaround time between appointment and treatment, central location. You don't have to use oil in your ears for days beforehand.
