No reason to.

In the normal course of things, all of a new born babies vitamins and immunity that they require comes from the mother. However, if there is a difficult birth, for example a prolonged delivery, forceps delivery, where the baby is in distress (Isabelle had all 3) vitamin k helps by preventing brain haemmoragh and bleeding and bruising. In addition, the liver function of the healthiest newborns is ok, at best. Vitamin k also helps with the Absorption and processing of Billirubin. Too much billirubin will shut the liver down very quickly. The most obvious sign is 'yellow/browning of the skin' billirubin anaemia is a very serious yet easily treated condition.

Before, with BRA...

And 2 weeks later...

And 4 months in...

Treated with Vit K. The palor of the skin is noticeably different.

Hope this helps?

Thanks TVR1.

Think its obvious to take the VitK option...

Do people think there's much difference between taking the VitK orally or by injections?

Congratulations Phil, glad she's doing well.

Relief all round here as having sold up a couple of weeks ago we finally exchanged on house purchase today after weeks of hard work keeping everyone talking and jumping through hoops. So BabyG will have a come too later in the year.

Hope all is gone well mate! My wife went overdue with both of our kids.

The 2nd one she did without any pain relief at all (nutter) in the birthing pool

Been a tough couple of days but she's all ok and doing well. Born last night at 12:26, weighed 9lb 7oz and had to be dragged out. It was pretty harrowing having to watch my wife and the baby go through it but it was worth it all.

May I introduce Imogen Esme Haigh...
