That's exactly the kind of rubbish I'm taking about. Based on absolutely nothing diagnosed as dehydrated. Jeez, expected better from you, hoofy.

ETA. Sorry Hoofy, I wasn't awake and shouldn't have been so terse.

Still think my point stands - there is no evidence that I or the chap above are dehydrated - that's a medical term. To say 'probably' is just ridiculous, but we see it said everywhere these days. It's rubbish.

If your piss isn't clear (which typically isn't if you wait until you're thirsty), then you're dehydrated. I could go all day without drinking much but then I will notice it the next day as my skin will be dry.

I'd really disagree with that one. I have to force my self to drink water, I just don't feel thirsty and can go days with just a cup of tea for breakfast. It causes me lots of problems with head aches and really bad sleep. The rest is gospel wink.
I'm lucky I use a standing desk at work, but drinking extra water is good as it encourages me to step away from the computer screen and take a pee!

A couple of years ago as a result of threads on this forum I:

stopped drinking alcohol

cut right back on bread, cereal, pasta, rice

try to walk at least 10,000 steps a day

started eating more meat and eggs

The result of this after two years is that I feel fantastic and have lost a load of weight. Very rapidly in the beginning, and then it settled to a more gradual decline.

I have just had my second "healthy man" check at the docs. All measurements were fine (glucose was a touch high - I attribute this to an increased sweet tooth since stopping drinking, so I am trying to cut right back on sugar too) and I weigh 15kg less than I did a decade ago!

I was worried about my cholestrol due to the amount of eggs I eat (at least two a day) but it was fine.

So in short I would echo the advice given earlier. From my own experience it really does work.

Maybe I shouldn't have said clear, but for most people they could do with drinking more.

My MiL always warns me about this whenever I am trying to bulk and am having 5 eggs every morning for breakfast. AFAIR there is no link to eating eggs and raised cholesterol. Anyway, it is more the ratio between HDL and LDL rather than exact numbers that cause the issues.

I read this a few times in various articles but couldn't quite bring myself to believe it until I saw the results of my tests.

Good job too as I find a breakfast of two boiled eggs keeps me going right through to early afternoon

The entire fat -> cholesterol -> heart disease hypothesis is junk science. Even Ancel Keys admitted so, and he was the father of it all. More specifically, the stuff about eggs and cholesterol was pushed by the Cereal Marketing Board after the success of the "Go to work on an egg" campaign by the Egg Marketing Board. Marketing and the mainstream media, not science. But that's what drives the public's buying habits. See also polyunsaturated fats.

Yeah, don't get me started on that fking awful fiction pretending to be science. I drink a litre of gold top a day and add grated cheese and olive oil to all hot meals and have never felt better!

Go road cycling or mountain biking. will make a big difference.
I'd like to do this, I'm in Sweden so it's not so practical where I am, maybe in the summer months.
You can mountain bike, get the right gear and they make studded mountain bike tyres for snow/ice

Apologies, I re-edited that until it looked more one-dimensional than I intended.

The end result of those three changes over two years is that I am down several stone of Fosters fat, have a clearer complexion, and blackheads I thought would outlast me are closing up. I sleep well, and wake up easily at 6am feeling great.

I would spare you the two years experimentation, and recommend you just go for all three from the off. thumbup

Don't know, maybe the sugar, maybe just Puritanism for some. I still have two in the morning, black no sugar, especially before a run.

opioids can make your piss worryingly dark as well if you're on them long term and change drug, when i changed onto fentanyl i was pissing so dark it might has well have been tea, equally when i came off a different opioid i was going to the loo every half hour and draining what looked like water out, gallons of it hehe

i do agree people probably need to drink more, people also need to accomodate the water intake from food as well.

Urban myth more than likely. Probably due to people adding milk and sugar to their coffees. Caffeine is great for dieting.

It doesn't I used to have eczema. Swimming is very good exercise but not too great for the eczema.
I find that stress is the main problem with mine. Used to think it was related to getting hands oily, and it's not.

Why? I've seen zero evidence to support that oft parroted 'advice'.

I think it's all dependant on the individual.

There is absolutely no way I could drink 8 glasses of water in a normal day. I drink between 4 and 5 and, at times, I can be in and out of bed three times during the night because my bladder cannot hold it in any longer.

8 glasses during the day would be an absolute nightmare for my sleep pattern!

I am sure that there are some that need it, I am not one of them...
