That's brilliant!

Worthy of its own thread and a PH league! biggrin
Found a suitable training day today, so gave it a go.

100kg squats for me; managed 24 in the five minute period.

First time I've ever pushed on with such an exercise, i.e. took a little break between sets but then gone back to the bar really quickly while heart is still racing.

Breakdown of sets was 10:7:3:4

I certainly think I've got 30 in me, so will give it another go every couple of weeks or so.

Fun challenge; several other guys at the gym have said they'll have a go. It's good, because it's a fair lift for everyone (assuming they can squat their BW, of course!)

To clarify then, bodyweight squats AMRAP in 5 minutes?

80kg tonight, should manage a decent number I think. What's a good place to be?

That's it!

I reckon that 35 or more is bloody good going. The winners in the video^^ hit 73.

Not sure the body weight thing is fair really. It will be a hell of a lot easier for me to crank out 50+ reps with 76kg (150ish total) than someone 25kg heavier than me to do it with 100kg (200kg total). The difference is doubled.

We know that it's gonna be harder as one gets heavier, the reduced gains one can get as one gets stronger/heavier. It'll always be a massive mountain for Smify.
Possibly some sort of formula could be made?
I estimate myself at 30-35...conservatively. I was doing BW when I was on my 25 rep routine last October.

Well i know i can do 30 at about 15kg over my body weight, because the first 3 sets of GVT are all over in 5 minutes. I reckon i'm good for at least 40 at bodyweight, maybe 50+

Might have to give it a go smile

I want to try this but:
1) I've been challeneged to AMRAP without racking the bar @120kg - 30 reps to beat.
2) The same again at bodyweight (150kg).
3) I have OCD and would do my leg routine before attempting any of the above......

I'll be trying later, 50 is the aim.
Been focusing on conditioning during my cut so hoping that's a reasonable aim smile

With 150kg on the bar? 10 reps a minute for 5 consecutive minutes would be impressive- that's basically a 5 min set with no rest, or a rep every 6 seconds- good luck!

You see, when you go and use maths and logic, you destroy the dream....don't destroy the dream...

Oi! Can the whingers stop fking whinging and trying to make up new rules to suit them and JFDI? biggrin

This is a much fairer challenge than the usual World's Strongest Man stuff. Just you versus your bodyweight.

Now... come on, who's tried it?

Get some stats posted thumbup

Totally fked up.

Used my phone to record, realised I had no timer so used the gym's ipod. Well the screen is about 2cm wide and turns off after 5 secs.

Missed timed my sets because I couldn't see to time breathing etc.

Managed 23 reps - 10, 5, 5, 3 and stopped about 10 secs short ffs.

Talking to my mate I should've gone all out first set. Should be able to hit 20 reps within 2 mins doing that.

Will try again in a few weeks, now I'm attempting 120kg AMRAP without re racking the bar. Not gonna be able to walk tomorrow and I've got to yoke (weather permitting) laugh

Forget the reps @120kg, no power whatsoever. Did 10 and just nothing there laugh
