That's really good.

I guess, if used that approach to achieve my 1RM for a military/OH press, you lot would all cry 'foul' though, right?
Jerks are awesome! I've done about 12.5kg more jerking (140kg) than push press (127.5kg), with is still way over my strict press (102.5kg)

Right. I seem to be incapable of simultaneously sinking down (legs) whilst pushing up (arms) to get under the weight.

Body no comprende.

biggrin
Think it of pushing your body under the bar as the bar moves up, rather than pushing the bar up.

Here's a vid of possibly the best in the world doing it in slow mo- watch for the 'jump' under to catch the bar at the top: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=um4VxiI2Ng0
That is utterly magnificent

I didn't know you could jerk so much!

I can't jerk at all, my body is too lazy and refuses to let me biggrin

I've power jerked? 120kg easily just missing 130kg and turning it into a push press due to the lockout.

I feel I could probably hit a good 150-160kg if I learnt how to do it proper.

Push press is using leg drive, strict is without smile

Snatch is different again. Oly lifts are quite different to what I do.

Hah only cheating if the rules are it has to be strict wink

I only train strict anyway, every once in a while I'll do push press but I don't incorporate it into my program.

My problem with push press is that it's very hard to track progress, because of how much "Push" you use varies from session to session

Push press rocks also- for strongman push is a must IMO, strict secondary, and jerk if you can do it!

I believe he's got patella problems, and if he could push, he probably would- Big Z does after all. (Plus the fact he's a huge freak of nature, I think it's safe to say 99.9% of people can lift more push pressing than pressing!)

It's a completely different lift/discipline though. Now I've taught myself not to use my legs I fear I'd never un-learn it if I was to revert back. silly

wow, that could have been so much nastier than it was! Reminds me to practice failing lifts so you know what to do when it all goes wrong.

I have become more interested in press/push press/jerk recently, and I have added some decent articles to the wiki in the past few weeks.

I had intended to test my 1RM press soon, but that is sort of out the door now.

I was gonna add heavy jerks to my routine, but I cannot jerk what I push press, I struggle with my workset Press weight. So the jerk was put to one side for the moment, I was hoping to return to it after my 10k in May.

edit.
I think I was just too scared to get under the weight.
Stronger legs/back may give more confidence.

I don't understand. You were using your legs and considering it a shoulder press? What the fk is this thread? Crossfit?

You shouldn't need to call it "strict" press just like you don't call it a "strict" pull up. You're either doing pull ups... or looking like a tt.

Precisely!
When I started out I just did what everyone else was doing to get the bar overhead. For the last few years I've been strict military press.
