Looks fun though - may pop along.

I'm not there yet, 27.20 is my best so far. Managed to shave off 2 mins so far this year.

I assume you chaps are running on the road?
When I (briefly) tried running it was on a treadmill on which I set the speed and incline. It was a simple matter to begin at 10.0 km/h and increase the speed a little every few days. Started at 10.0 increasing by 0.1 km/h every few days. Soon got up to 12 km/h which is 5k in 25'.
I guess it's harder to do so without the machine 'forcing' the pace?

Yes I run on the road. I use the Nike + app on my phone, but as the phone is strapped to my arm, I've got no idea want my pace is like until I've finished. I'm looking into getting a sports watch with GPS, which should make things easier.

Depends...tread versus road can be funny...MY set routes I know where I should be and when. I can force a good pace with the tread, but I run better/quicker in a parkrun when the excitement is up.
When I try and set the tread to my best PR pace....it's incredibly tough.
I use strava on my phone which really does help with the half k pace updates.

I'll be there then, spectating. You'll be competing then?
Maybe pop that hex bar in the boot in case anyone wants it.

Not this time round, I don't think I could pull 300 whilst cutting.
Next year I'll give it a go smile

Need some help please smile

Have managed to stick to my goal and have lost nearly 8% of body fat in a little over 9wks. I'm now down to around 11-12%.

Problem:
1. I still don't have a six pack.
2. Doing this, I've also lost weight - I'm now down to a pitiful 74/75kg (from averaging 82-85kg @ 19% bf).

Whilst I'm managing to maintain my weights, I am fast coming to a halt. I've been strictly keeping to 1500cals and have done H.I.T twice a week / weights x3.

At this point I'm thinking of giving up. Frankly I'm wasting away - even the Doris has said she doesn't want me to lose any more weight. Am I destined never to possess a six pack? At this point it would seem so - I've decided to up the calories to 2k and cut out the H.I.T, but I'm not even sure that this will help?

Any ideas?

11-12% is still too high for most of us. Sorry dude.

Either keep cutting or be happy with what you've achieved and maintain it. smile

As I recently found to my cost, (I was on a 1200 kcal per day diet), you need to eat/consume a little more, perhaps 1800 kcals. I was 83kg last September, and now around 72kg (5'7"). I think my diet was too extreme, as I started to lose strength and a bit of (newly acquired) muscle when weight training 4 times per week.

I too am disappointed that no abs still show (30" waist, was over 36"!), but I plan to stick at it and see what upping my diet intake, along with training will do over the next six months. I certainly feel a lot better for eating a little more, that’s for sure. I became so single minded about losing the last bit of fat around my belly that I lost sight of any larger long term goals. That was a mistake...

One thing I know for sure, for me at least, is that you do really need to eat/consume more when training. Not sure if you are the same, but I have quite 'thick' skin, so I never have any veins showing, not even when fully 'pumped up', was the same in my teens, too. I wonder if this has any bearing on 'abs aesthetics’.

How tall are you?

If you're tall ~6ft and only 74kg then you just don't have muscle mass to really show off.

I've figured 2 things with abs...first of all you need to have developed them (like any muscle) and then you need to be at a low enough bf% to see them.

So if you are honestly and realisticly down at 11-12% I'd say it's the former.

Yikes. If most here are sub 11% then I'm definitely in the wrong place!

Even in that pic, the bloke with the 10-12% bf has a decent 6 pack. frown

I'm 5'10. I have like an outer layer of fat covering my abs but my abs are pretty solid (they've been getting smashed consistently!). You can see the outline of my abs, just not to the extent of that 10-12% picture. I look more like the 15% pic.

Yes I'm thinking along similar line to you. Ok - I'll up by 6-800 cals and cut out my H.I.T and see where that leads for the next 2mths.

Will report back smile

hehe Soz, wasn't clear. What I meant was, were (m)any of us to attain 12% BF we may not show a six pack. Not suggesting I'm anywhere close anyway - more like 14/15% currently.

Personally I'd look to add some size...5' 10 and 74 kg is pretty light.
