Well I had a good session this morning!
19 reps on the car deadift (a clio) in around 30secs - record was 18 so beat it by 1
Followed by 3x70kg dumbbell chest press, not the beat reps but heaviest I've been in well over a year!

Bench press.
Is it black magic?
Some people seem to be able to press phenomenal weights, yet I'm finding moving my capabilities on really tough.
My PT has suggested that I unwind the weight a bit and go for max reps followed by drop sets for a few weeks, before reloading for high weight/low reps.
I thought I'd enter the can of worms that is Youtube last night, and watch technique/tips videos for bench pressing, but the array of advice (and opposing advice!) is worse than for any other lift. There seems to be no consensus.
Part of it, I realised, is the different technique for powerlifters and bodybuilders, but even so it's still so inconsistent.
I'm still pressing (c. 10%) short of bodyweight - 100kg - which is really frustrating - but I see other guys who aren't particularly (visibly) well-built pushing 120/130 quite comfortably.
Is it all about just knocking out more and more reps, or are there any complementary lifts/exercises I need to make sure I'm incorporating?

Impressive.Funny - in the list of recommended videos, there's a BEAST doing a 1 rep max barbell bench press with 70kg.

Saw that the other day. Unless you can keep the tempo up I think he's won https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=8314650536012...

Looks more like a close grip bench unless that was the aim?

Good going, Arty. Hopefully I'm not too far away from hitting that milestone too! And I've narrowed my grip a bit as well; a YT vid I watched suggested that arms should be in the place they'd be if you were punching. Tried it for the first time yesterday and found it really comfortable. Will see how it goes.
Anyone need a laugh?
