I've seen this before. Done as a leg finisher combined with squatting.
10 reps jump squats empty bar, 10 reps deep squats 10kg a side. No rest period - need 2 people to load/unload the bar. Most don't make it past the 3rd set biggrin

We'll be calling you poofy soon biggrin

Sessions are finally improving, haven't touched whey in a while now. I'm assuming cleaner eating is helping smile

3x5 incline working sets followed by 10x 137.5kg flat then 24x 100kg flat. Estimated 1RM puts me at around 180kg (my best at my heaviest) so touch wood come bulk time I'll be at where I was before smile

Chaps: do you squat ass-to-grass?

When I was 5x5ing last year, I didn't. Chasing ever higher weights, parallel was all I could do.

More recently, having switched back to hypertrophy sets on lower weights to both save my old body hehe and cope with my shoulder injury, I squat right down as low as it goes, sometimes even putting a 'pause' in at the bottom before the lift.

Real mix of internet gospel on the matter though. Some people suggest that anything past parallel is a 'waste'. It doesn't feel like a waste; it feels like it puts maximum pull on the glutes, or have I just convinced myself of that?

Good question.
My experience is similar - I 'feel the burn' when I go past parallel and enjoy the sensation but t'Internets gurus say I'm wasting time and effort.
Say it ain't so...

These same Internet gurus who probably can't squat 2 plates a side? hehe

I can't remember exactly what I read but just above parallel is bad for you and possibly parallel itself is (again I can't recall what it was and I'm on mobile Internet so not going to look biggrin )

Above parallel is bad because of the forces acting on the knee.

I have started to squat below parallel over the past few months, and it is harder with less weight.

If it is harder, in my view, it must be better for you.

I find it funny when people on YT post about the knee going past the toes resulting in knees blowing out. I do hear that Al-Qaida ditched IEDs in favour of suicidal squatters forcing their knees past their toes.

It certainly puts additional stresses on the insertions in the knees and most people are stronger with a more hip dominant squat. You're right though the risks are definitely overblown!

Cripes! That's bad news. Two friends of mine have been very ill with that - both heavy drinkers.
What's the cause in your case?

biggrin I had a whole tray of clotted rice pudding last night, some ice-cream today and a masshoosive bar of galaxy...CARBSs biggrin. Back to normal after the run tomorrow.
Tweaked my back on Tuesday trying to do a pistol, thought I'd have to get a mate to run, but it's eased off and I should be ok. biggrin
