I've got a 24kg for home swingerage. £80, IIRC.
I have a whopper, I think 24kgs too.

Too feckin' heavy for me but makes a fine door stop.
Doesn't Didly own a 40kg one? You big girls.

It's a 48kg one (which was 84kg for a while with added steel) - Plan to start using it again next week every morning for a bit of conditioning smile

Reminds of that scene in Unbreakable where Bruce Willis is doing bench press in the basement, and runs out of plates, so his kid starts hanging tins of paint off the bar smile

Pavel T advises for regular fellas to start with a 16kg. The KB is a conditioning tool and best benefits come from it being used as such.

Great. How is the handle, is it slick to allow for snatches?

Yep. I was only teasing.

You need to get the KB for the job in hand. Mine was for two-hand swing routines. I couldn't use my 24 for one-hand OH press stuff.

You've snatched with it then? And it doesn't rip your skin up? Some KB handles need sanding, and if that was the case with this one, I wouldn't consider purchasing one.

Mine has a smooth rubber-coated body and a metal handle with very slight dimpling. Nothing which would drag on skin though.

I should add, I've also begun yoga lessons. Just the two so far but I think the extra flexibility will help my lifting.

170kg deadlift tonight and felt like there was more there. Another 40kg by the end of March - 11 weeks away - and I'll be a happy man.

That inspired me and deflated me at the same time. I've being training in once sense or another forever!!!! I've gained weight, lost weight, gained muscle, gained fat, looked fat, looked lean-ish and basically gone round in circles! But I've never really got that far from being chunky!! I should certainly be far stronger than I am, my strength is in endurance rather than power, but I'm working to balance that. At 42 I'm not too worried about big numbers, but saying that, it's hard not to have one eye on what everyone else in the gym is pushing/pulling, especially when some young lad half your size uses your weights for warming up!!

Anyway, that video highlighted the need for consistency and working towards small goals and not giving up. I'm aiming for getting as close as I can to single digit bodyfat this year (9.9% will do nicely). It's going to be a long journey, and I've got some really bad habits to break. I want to reduce my body fat mainly for health reasons, I've already outlived my dad who died at 39, and my three children seem to like me so it would be good to stay around for a while longer, but more than that, be a fit and healthy dad too.

I'm using myfitnesspal properly, by that I mean weighing and logging everything. The first few days were alarming seeing the extra snacks I'd snuck in that I sort of don't count!

I've already noticed that the kids snack draw is staying well stocked! I'm not telling everyone (except the internet), that I'm not on a diet, I'm just cutting the rubbish out, working harder and sticking with my plan!

I'd guess it's your protein vs carb intake that needs looking at.

Why do you want sub-10% body fat? You didn't mention wanting to be an athlete of any kind... the only aspiration you mention is the usual gym lift-envy.

The rest of your post seemed to just want to be a normal, fit, healthy human.

So lift more, eat as much (nutritious food) as you want and be happy. I'd suggest that 12-16% BF is much more sustainable for us mere mortals; we look healthier for it and we can put competitive pressure on ourselves to do important stuff like training better, rather than just being scrawny.

No right answer, of course! Just my 2p smile
