Do either of you drink enough water (or other healthy drinks)? Could be dehydration is the issue.

Looking forward to a pint of Guinness in 10months!
I also suffered from massive massive tiredness at work (even after sleep had recovered to normal on weds/thurs) and issues sleeping so it seemed a no brainer to combine stopping with exercise to see if I can feel normal or if there is perhaps another medical reason...
Stout is one of the drinks that doesn't have a bad effect on me.

Good effort for trying to sort yourself out. I have put in a lot of effort this year to improve fitness and eat more healthily. I wasn't huge to begin with, but feeling more trim is definitely good.

In the last year (with drinking) and just cutting it down and being more active I am down 18kg already... another 5kg I think before I will be 'proud' of my work with shirt off....(used to feel self conscious with a gut....silly?)

Training and pushing myself has been easy as around 10 years ago when I was a student I was very fit (rugby and alot of gym)

I drink a lot of water and feel better when I do. The sinus thing is worse if dehydrated, but some drinks do trigger it and others don't.

It turns out that other members of my family have similar issues. This could partially explain why we are not a family f big drinkers.

I've just dropped a stone and a half mostly on a chicken curry and broccoli diet! No calories in spices so they can keep those dry yucky salads! Lunch is a 350 calorie delicious M&S 'fuller longer' meal. Its working for me...

Now I just checked how far I should get down to and was staggered that this NHS chart suggests the middle of the 'healthy' range is around 11 stone for a six footer. Eleven stone!? I am completely and utterly baffled by that and find it incredulous - what do others think?

BMI is just a guide. Only works for people with no muscle mass whatsoever.

Edited to add- bordering 'normal' 6ft 7 and 75 kg - if from ethiopia maybe
bordering 100kg 'over weight'

That's so true, you would have to be almost emaciated to fall into the 'correct' BMI table!

I am 5'7", 30" waist and around 73-75kg, and it classes me as overweight!

Yeah, for anyone who trains, BMI is awful. HOWEVER, for a couch potato it's a useful guide to scare someone to getting off their arses and not eating so much.

My personal goal is to be really low on the BF% but obese on the BMI. biggrin

If you have a 30" waist then its absurd if its putting you in anywhere near the tubbies! How come they have this so wrong? I dont think I was 11 stone when I had a 32" waist and could cycle up Snowdon!. Stuff & nonsense!

It's a broad brush designed for people without large amounts of muscle mass (i.e most of the population), and for those people it works just fine. FWIW my BMI is 22.4 and I'm not a skeleton (6 foot and just under 12 stone).
The middle or bottom of the range isn't necessarily the healthiest, in fact there's some evidence towards to top of "healthy" is the place you should aim for.

Generally when people think BMI is massively off it's either because they are using it for body builders or they are so used to fat people as normal that someone who is a healthy weight seems thin by comparison.

All that said, body fat percentage is a much better measure of health.

BMI doesn't take into account that someone who trains is likely to have a higher muscle percentage- and muscle weighs more than fat. So you're heavier, it just assumes its all fat!

I am somebody who trains a lot ( mainly high intensity gym work) and at 5' 10", 81kg, 10% bodyfat, I just creep into the normal range but I am right on the edge of being classed as overweight! And that's with a 32" waist and visable abs!

BMI is a joke for anyone athletic/muscular.

Im a 36" waist but very broad and when I put on weight it goes everywhere.. a friend who weighs the same is 34" waist but his gut hangs over and it looks weird, I fill up he goes barrel chested, but we are both 42" chests.

Even when at my lowest weight Im a 34" waist and still 42" chest.

BMI is a very rough guide (based upon the average from people in the USA in the 1950s?).

It's not exactly news that people with lots of muscle might not conform with it.

I' am another that has always been at the upper end of "normal"/bottom end of "overweight", but am lean and don't have a weight problem.

I used to work with a guy with a 30 inch waist, he was a "double denim" wearer as well, he was prod of his 30 inch waist, "Same as when I were 18" (from Stoke) and I didnt want to point out the literal elephant in the room, yes his jeans were 30 inch waist examples but he was neglecting to mention the frankly astounding gut hanging over the front, it was quite a structure, like a close up of a water droplet and I am guessing that when naked it would probably cover his genitals.

So, I was too polite to mention this as hadnt been there long but one of the other rough arse Stokey techs with no such politeness said, and I quote " Yeah, but what about that big sweaty dewflap anging down the front" biggrin

SO, with a waist size one much quote a remainder if anything overspills, h was a 30 remainder 12, so would need say 42 inch pants to cover the distance round his belly if not wearing if underneath, there was another lad who wore his pants right in the middle of the gut and it pulled it in, looked uncomfortable, they were 44 inch apparently and were tight, so 44 remainder 5 I reckon.

I measure my progress by the belt hole I need to use, managed to wind it in by two notches.

hehe I measure my waist with a tape.

Talking of belts, I had to throw all of my old ones away - they used to be too small for me, I was that rotund, but when I tried them again, they were all way to big!

Amazing what a bit of exercise and keeping your diet in check can do...
