I started to notice redness in one eye 2 days ago - actually it's someone that pointed it out to me at work as I felt mostly normal. I do feel slight cold/flu symptoms (sneezing, slight temperature, redness in cheeks, runny nose and headache) these few days. At the moment I have minimal discharge which are normally in the mornings and white-ish not yellowish. I only feel slight discomfort in the eyes (like when you have been staring at screen too long). Redness seem to have spread a little to the other eye today. Basically in the day my eye looks normal except for it's red...

I take paracetamol as needed and continued on going to work as I felt ok enough to work. I've got some eye drops yesterday from the pharmacy but it doesn't seem make a big difference.

I must say the only time I remembered having conjunctivitis before was once years back; that was pretty serious bout with flu and I was bed-ridden most of time and on some days my eyes are glued shut.

Should I continue to go to work? Slightly awkward as there are a few occasions with buffet lunches but I made sure I wash my hands prior and try to be the last person having the food. I do notice some people tend to avoid or give me a strange look so it's pretty awkward for me.

I've been thinking about making a GP appointment but not sure if I should wait for a few more days first...

Sounds a lot like the symptoms of Iritis, I would go to a hospital with an eye casualty if it is still going on.

GPs tend to misdiagnose it as conjunctivitis.

Thanks because of your advice I'm in A&E now waiting for my turn to see the doctor.

Hopefully I didn't cause you a wasted trip but it's better being safe than sorry with eyes.
