Anyone know why circadin is not allowed? Is it dangerous? When I was in the US I had a drink with melatonin and slept amazing.

I was told it’s only prescribed to children, then someone else told me it’s only prescribed for memory impairment and referral required for detailed analysis. My dad was mistakenly given 7 tablets and it was amazing, no more ringing me up 3am and day sleeping.

I think it's one of those things like Kava, which was banned years ago and never bothered to be un-banned. Probably falls under the psycho-active substances rule as well. Like caffeine, nicotine etc. do.

It's not banned, or psychoactive in normal doses as far as I know. Buy it as tryptophan, the precursor to melatonin.

Banned for sale in the UK as a non-prescription medicine - Biovea and the like ship from the EU. And pretty much anything can be described as psychoactive, that's why so many scientists objected to the broad-brush approach.

As I said, buy it as the precursor Tryptophan or L-Tryptophan. Available from the UK/EU. It does surprise me you can only get it on prescription as it really only improves sleep, but I suppose dosage is open to abuse.

Ordered already. I just wondered why the doctors got so worked up about prescribing it.
