Anybody use one?
I quite fancy having one....its a gadget after all lol
Can't decide which might be best,Jawbone up24,Fitbit charge hr etc. they seem to get mixed reviews.
For info I train with weights in the mornings and cycle when I can. I have an active job(upholstery).
Waste of money or a bit of (useful) fun?

Waste of money. It might help motivate you but it's not very accurate so I can only see limited value in any of them in terms of getting you off the couch.

I've had a fitbit for about 18 months and I think it's great. To me whether it's 100 per cent accurate or not isn't really the point, it's more about setting and achieving goals. 5 work colleagues have them so we compete against each other for the most steps in a day, week or month. I also like the fitbit community which allows you to compete against lots of other people.

Like I say - it helps to motivate. BUT the point is that it's supposed to be able to tell you how much you're burning etc.

FWIW It's more accurate than using something like myfitnesspal but that's about it.

Had a fitbit flex for my birthday recently and as said it motivates you slightly more but thats it. Seems to log steps too easily when your moving around on the sofa etc, the sleep monitoring feature is quite interesting though.

I was wondering how they work when it comes to moving arms, say ironing,as opposed to actually walking. I was thinking the HR versions might be able to distinguish between things a bit better but not sure.
Incidentally motivation isn't a problem...I just like gadgets and info.

They claim any activity they find worthy of a step gets logged.

I use my iPhone bit not sure the distance is accurate or the calories. My heart rate monitor calculated I burned 1076 calories after a 17.5km run which feels right ( no food).

They are good though at highlighting inactivity.

I have had an UP24 for 8 months. It's proven itself to be a very accurate step counter. I like the feature of being able to scan barcodes of food products to log your food / drink intake. Like the Fitbit it's great fun and can create motivation and competition with friends / family who wear one. It gives you good tips for increasing your step count, sleep hours and for eating and drinking more healthier. The sleep is pretty good too but I'm not sure how accurate it is with regards to when you're in light sleep or deep sleep. But, my favourite feature is that it works alongside various other apps you use on your phone. As someone who like running and cycling and uses Strava it's great!! It syncs with the app and transfers the data on to the UP app. The only feature I wish it had is the HR monitor, but apparently the next version will have one..... I will be buying one when they're released.
The battery on my UP24 lasts up to 7 days.
It looks great and as I bought a black one it doesn't look stupid with different coloured clothes.
It's also very comfort.

I've got the fitbit surge, it's got built in GPS which is very handy for checking your pace when out running. I'd recommend it.
