As I say, it depends on the things I've stated. Due to the nature of my work, I've spoken to a hell of a lot of very old people both in reasonable shape and terrible shape. If I get cancer in my 70s, I won't bother the NHS.

You'll probably be wanting a bit of morphine, and while it is available outside the NHS, it's expensive and the quality is not so good wink

Haha. Shh. Yes, in the hospice I will be asking for diamorphine to be served from one of the pretty nurses.

Keeps your weight down, though, ever seen a fat crackhead*? Crystal meth probably even better.

  • ok, I concede there is that mayor from Toronto, but he'd probably be even fatter

Krokodil is the ultimate for weight loss. The pounds literally fall off. (Don't google at work!)

Certainly a fresh 'health benefit' angle in the drugs legalization debate...

Met up with some old college friends I'd not seen in years and with one exception all of them had gone from a bit out of shape to fat. Shocking the difference a few years can make. It was awful, they were no longer sexual entities - seemed like they had settled down into married life and had just given up.

Interestingly the two exceptions (if you include me) are both single and exercise / get out and about.

Think part of the reason can be people getting into long term relationships and no longer giving a crap what they look like.

Awful? Really?

Does it matter that much?

Not if you don't have any self respect, or want to live a healthy life.

So, yes it does matter!

Mmm. From a personal viewpoint, it's about reducing the risk of bad health, not just cancer or heart disease but constantly aching joints, diabetes etc.

From a social viewpoint: http://www.theguardian.com/society/2014/nov/20/obe...

People don't exercise because they cannot due to health issues, or because they find it too much like hard work.

Let's be honest - if you are very unfit the process of getting fit is hard and painful, mentally and physically, and requires a considerable amount of determination.
