I'm now in week 3 of a cold that just won't bugger off. Its not been that bad in symptom severity but I'm normally shot of colds in 4 -5 days. Cough is keeping me awake and i have had a tit full of it.

The wife keeps telling me to go to the Dr but I think that is waste of everyone's time for a cold.

Any qualified internet Drs got any ideas?

Your wife is right, go see a doctor; if it's lasted 3 weeks, it might not be a cold.

Are you drunk? Would rather it was bad AIDS.

It started a few weeks ago with a touch of Montezuma's revenge. Apparently a few other parents have had exactly the same. Stomach bug followed by a cough they can;t shift. Seems like a trip to the Drs and some antibitotics are in order. Will have to wait till tomorrow though as Dave hasn't put his 24 hour NHS promise into reality yet.

Do you have a temperature?

At the beginning of last month I had a cold that lasted a full month. All the symptoms but no temperature so went to my GP. Hay fever.

Never had hay fever before and now I'm one of those losers who has to squirt Beconase into their face every day!

No temperature.

Used to have ezcema a bit I believe the two are related (along with asthma) so it could be.

Going to attempt a Drs appt tomorrow. Finding Brigadoon is easier

This. Just because you've never had it before doesn't mean you can't get it 'now' & we're pretty much at the peak of the hay fever season.

So got the Dr who must have had a day off when the did the bedside manner trainer. Miserable fker. Don't get it why people with no social skills chose a career that requires them. I have no social skills that's why I work in IT development where I don't have to talk to people very often.

Anyway no idea what it is, I have some antibiotics and I have to go for a chest x-ray for some reason or another. Now I have to go a sit in A&E with all the mouth breathing morons in there with pots on their heads.

What a palaver!

Go to Boots and get some allergy tabs and some Beconase (or other brand) and try them until Friday. If you're not feeling better it's not hay fever.

Sorry to hijack the thread but I've had similar going back a few weeks

a few days of feeling cold (completely unlike me) and hot
headaches that I just can't shift (not hangovers)
had a bit of a sore throat at the weekend

No sneezing or coughing (until today when I started sneezing and have a runny nose)

I do get hayfever but this isn't it.

No single symptom enough to warrant a Dr's appointment especially when an appointment would be 3 weeks away and still possibly in work time by which time I'd expect a cold to be gone.

This just seems to do the rounds. I had it for about 4 weeks, was really getting on my tits as didn't feel that ill, but too under the weather to do anything worthwhile, full of snot, ultra tired. Dose of antibiotics did naff all. It just went away of its own accord, so probably best to stick to vitamin C, lots of rest and lots of fluids.

I seem to have from similar cold like symptoms too which lasted for around a month now. No fever though, sometimes get diarrhoea.... strange thing is I'd feel better for few days then it'd hit me again.
