I've just recently started going to the gym again, last time I went was probably around 6-7 years ago and back then would use creatine tablets and have a protein shake. I feel like a beginner all over again though, can anyone recommend a decent brand of both?
Thanks.

Creatine is creatine.
Just buy the cheapest mono you can find. I pay £8-10 for a kilo delivered of eBay smile

can't comment on protein, don't use it anymore however I hear to avoid my protein as they're under investigation for protein content being a lot lower than claimed.

There's bodybuilding warehouse I think it's called or bulk powders?

Sorry can't find it! :/
I asked someone who I thought had shared it and he seems to think it was UK Muscle a few weeks back but I can't find anything.

nitrogen spiking protein seemed the common scam.
Dont know how you could realistically test it at home.

Mono as said, just get the cheapest you can
Protein power, Cheapest bulk supplier, Check hotukdeals for offers. Bulkpodwers, myprotein, gonutrition. Chances are the same 80% whey comes from same factories some where just put in different shiny bags, Although i would pay extra for a air seal bag that actually sealed!!!!
If taste isnt a huge issue, Go unflavored, Its a bit cheaper and has more protein contact, About 3g per scoop. Just add some OJ to unflavoured and its all good.

Would stay away for the ebay 5kg buckets. The amount of crap added to them is impressive.

Standard 2.2kg 80% whey. £21 quid & free delivery and a free shaker, Cant have enough shakers. struggle to find anywhere cheaper.

My Protein or bulk powders. Generally amazon and ebay are bunk. If its super cheap, it's for a reason.

It wasn't just Myprotein that had lower than quoted protein content,it was pretty much every powder tested.
I'd take that test with a pinch of salt...or powder smile

Bulk Powders. I won't buy protein from them anymore because all the flavours I have tried from them taste disgusting. Far too much sweetener and too little effort made to make them taste good. I still have a bag of their Chocolate Peanut which gets used only if I have run out of everything else. It tastes like cardboard blended with 5kg of artificial sweetener and creates a residue on anything it touches that is so stubborn it could be used as an industrial coating.

In my view, nutrition isn't just about the end result, it's about enjoying what you consume. I am using USN products at the moment and they taste pleasant.

I quite like the ones from MyProtein & Bulk Powders. I found that Maximuscle tasted like off-cheese so,I'd avoid them (plus they're double the price)

Regarding the protein spiking, wasn't that primarily in the U.S.? Unfortunately most threads questioning the quality of sponsors on UK muscle are taken down rolleyes I had heard MyProtein mentioned a couple of times on there but the thread vanished before any info came out.

ETA best tasting product I had was from Powerbeck. It tasted just like a McDonalds chocolate milkshake but I couldn't find much info on them so I switched back to bulk powders.

That was why a new forum sprang up where these sort of things were not taken down. Hate the way UKM is run.

I read an article a while back and a company had tested various protein powders and MyProtein came out very close to the top in terms real protein content vs claimed.

I can't quickly find the exact article I read but just quickly googled it and this site shows MP as being 2nd best of those tested as well as best for value https://labdoor.com/rankings/protein

Myprotein works for me, but I always buy unflavoured as they sweeten everything with sucralose which tastes rank. Unsweetened + fruit is much more tasty IMO.
