But joking aside find me a quickish marathon runner who can lift some big numbers, I guess you have to pick one or the other. I sit in the middle somewhere though and I'm happy with that - that's the most important part!

They do exist though! Long-term I'm looking to develop both. Like you I want to sit in the middle; I'm interested to see how far I can develop each aspect... I'm not exactly weak, but lifts are progressing as I carry on developing my aerobic fitness... The strength training is making me a lot faster, so they do carry over a lot! For the cardio just have to manage volume and intensity carefully: the interference effect does exist, but not nearly as much as some believe...
