Could a nutritionist help if you approached them with a “sugar addiction”? Or is willpower the only thing they could prescribe?

Very likely. Willpower isn't the only answer. Being properly nourished lessens the desire for bad stuff and addressing underlying issues can help address sugar cravings.

Though the human palate will always seek out salt, fat and sugar there are ways of satiating it that don't involve crisps, pizza and Oreos.

Nutritionist is a vague term, you may get lucky.
Registered Dieticians are properly qualified and regulated by law. In theory you're likely to get better advice from a dietician, though dated dogma still pervades the profession.

I’m finding it so hard to get off sugar. I eat fairly healthily and don’t really go for fatty foods but just can’t knock sugar on the head. Feel like it would turn my life and health around if I could but I’m too weak!

I am not sure that "nutritionist" is a vague term, but it is not a regulated profession and the barriers to entry are low or non-existent. Which is why obtaining a recommendation and finding someone suitably trained is the way forward.

Having met a few dieticians, I agree with your analysis.

2 months into cutting sugar (try to stay around 10g a day - mostly from lactose - greek yog) and thats it.

Also no pasta, bread, spuds, rice, grains, etc

My god I feel better!

My addiction was insane - I got to the point where I was filling the car with petrol (buying 4 choc bars) and only putting £5 in the tank....so I'd have an reason to fill up later that day and repeat. Wouldn't be surprised if I was doing

I was doing 300-400g of sugar a day in sweets - Let alone sugars in all the "regular" carbs I was eating.

I’m like you used to be Tigsy. Have always ate too much sugar but I’m eating a frankly embarrassing amount at the minute and can’t stop myself. Like a slow motion car crash.

How to stop?

Figured I'd look daft fat and tattooed......so far it's worked!

Well that was easy - first time in 45 years but a xmas without sugar (or any carbs apart from above the ground vegetables/nuts)

Was pretty easy really! Probably hit about 10g of sugar a day, mostly from the greek yogurt I have each day....thats about it.

Was surrounded by people telling me that I couldnt possibly be enjoying myself .... as they all waddled about fit to burst and I felt great and ran 7 miles after doing chest this morning just because I felt like I had so much energy!
