How much do you pay for your gym membership?
Discussion
As I work for the local authority, I can use the gym/facilities for £1 a visit although, more often than not, they just wave me through, so pay nothing most of the time!
After many years, this "perk" finishes at the end of march - Bloody cuts!!
Will probably have to pay the monthly membership from then onwards- think its about £32 a month.

I was paying around £900 per annum for DLL
I've just said that I won't be renewing and I'm buying a new mountain bike as they're putting their prices up again in January.
To echo some of the comments above, there's too many kids running round and it doesn't feel very exclusive.
Have you given them 3 month notice that you are about to quit? tends to catch a lot of people out.I've just said that I won't be renewing and I'm buying a new mountain bike as they're putting their prices up again in January.

Guess you also have tennis club membership. I'm quite fortunate to have loads of free courts around Edinburgh to play all year round. Only time I play indoors is between November - Feb. Not a member of any
clubs as it's a bit biased towards people playing doubles.

Imagine these same kids were to pull down a basketball net in the middle of a popular court in downtown New York, I would imagine these little
a55holes would be eating a few stray bullets very quickly

I often wonder if it's just UK kids who like to do this kind of thing burning nets at tennis courts or setting goals nets on fire at a football pitch.

Yeah, there are no repercussions in this country. Bored kids, innit.Imagine these same kids were to pull down a basketball net in the middle of a popular court in downtown New York, I would imagine these little

I'm opening a gym this year. Weightlifting/Powerlfiting/Strongman gym, with really good quality (but old) weights and bars, with the intention of being a proper lifters gym.
Membership pricing is hard to set. Just looking at this thread, prices are all over the place.
It's not going to be fancy, so prices can't be too high.
We will be providing plenty of high level coaching, support, programming etc - basically you're gunna get a lot more help than normal gyms give.
Classes (All lifting classes, and Met Con)
Can't compete with the £10.99 a month as our membership will be too small.
Crossfit ( I dislike them, but we will be competing against them) seem to charge anywhere between £60 and £150 a month!

For a strongman gym, I've seen prices around £30-£50 a month and that seems reasonable if you're going to have lots of racks available plus incline leg press machines etc. Plus the piss taker rusty 1980s gym bike in the corner. There's your USP Assuming the membership fees cover the coaching, then not a lot of gyms will be able to compete with that. Most large commercial gyms only offer REPS type trainers, at additional cost.
Combine that with quality kit you've got I can certainly see the appeal if you keep the fees reasonable.

What are Pure Gyms like ? Any good ?
One has just opened near me which is a fair bit cheaper than mine so considering swapping.
meat heads galore watched some one workout in jeans and shirt recently. One has just opened near me which is a fair bit cheaper than mine so considering swapping.
very busy but cheap.
I've been a member for about 5 months now, and it's clean, lots of decent kit (Oly lifting flatform etc) it's 24hr, £17 per month and 5 mins walk from my office. It's a no-brainer for me.
What's a meat head btw?
