An NHS dentist really messed my teeth ,I went the London/Budapest dentist route and had to spend £12500 instead of the £27k which was the best quote from UK dentists. Hungary is renowned for Dentists and has been for Decades. They have a London Surgery which did some of the work, fantastic people

I'm confused now - my dentist recommended Duraphat toothpaste which seems like normal toothpaste but with a huge boost of flouride. maybe his recommendation was tooth issue specific but the two pieces of advice seem very contrary?
Do not go by my experience, listen to your dentist. For me it might have been because where I grew up the water was fluoridated causing my front teeth to be discoloured as a child (or this might be just rubbish). Or it could've been excessive use of toothpaste, who knows.

an ex GF of mine had front teeth very badly discoloured due to excess fluoride, if she hadn't have had them capped/veneered etc she'd have looked positively frightening.

I think my implant is around 5 years old now and has been no trouble at all.

My dentist said he was happy to guarantee it though he would not have done so if I smoked.

Any advantages of zirconium implants over titanium?

Zirconia is a type of ceramic and so can be produced in white shades so the main advantage is an aesthetic one over the metal colour of traditional titanium implants. The disadvantage is that the implant and abutment must be made out of one piece of material which reduces choices for prosthetic restoration.

A traditional titanium implant and crown comes in three main parts: the "screw" placed in the gum, an abutment usually screwed into the top of the implant and the crown ("tooth") cemented or screwed onto the abutment.

A well placed titanium implant in the majority of cases shouldn't have any aesthetic problems. There also questions about the solidity of ceramic implants vs titanium ones.

The abutments may also be made out of zirconium and placed on a titanium implants which gives a best of both worlds scenario.

I've had an implant for a few years and it's been fine. Feels and looks like a normal tooth (though it has a bit less give which is odd at first), much better than having a gap that's for sure. I had some problems after a couple of years when the crown chipped, it was replaced under guarantee though. One advantage of implants is that if the crown is damaged they can just unscrew it and replace it without any real difficulty.

My uncle went over to Bratislava for the 7 implants he had. The cost was less than half the price he was quoted in the uk and he was very impressed by both the clean modern set up and the professional English speaking Dental staff.

Included in the price was the flights, hotel and they also provided him with a mobile phone to stay in touch with him while he was there to let him know when his car was coming to pick him up etc.

I'm missing 3 back teeth and I would deffinately consider the above option when I decide enough is enough.
