Exactly this.
It's another symptom (no pun intended) of the wonderfully self obsessed, entitled, foot stamping, tantrum throwing generation that is the baby boomers.
Everyone I know in that age group goes to the docs at the drop of a hat, demanding tests and treatments, almost always their minor ailments are either self-induced or entirely imaginary.
That's millions & millions of people you have stereotyped in one go.It's another symptom (no pun intended) of the wonderfully self obsessed, entitled, foot stamping, tantrum throwing generation that is the baby boomers.

About as sensible as saying that all Frenchmen eat cheese.

Having to wait seven weeks is a crock; is there a walk-in non-emergency clinic anywhere near you? Quite a few A+Es have them right next door.
Got there after 7 week wait, doctor informed me he could only treat two ailments in one 6 minute appointment and asked me to pick which two of the three were most serious. (how should i know he's the doctor)Merc 450 said:

Ah, but the question here is whether 7 weeks was the wait for the first available GP appointment, or the first one that was at a date and time convenient for you. I'd be surprised if it was the former. meddyg said:

I previously posted how to be seen today/tomorrow. Call 111.
What 111 suggest isn't gospel you know! We can chose to re-triage the problem :-)JumboBeef said:
I wasn't talking about what happens when you get to see the Doc, I was talking about getting an appointment in the first place....
That's what I'm referring to - your original post. Just because 111 says you need to see your own GP within (insert time frame here) doesn't mean we have to follow that advice. We can re-triage the problem and decide it is perfectly reasonable to wait longer. meddyg said:

Well, I've learned some queue jumping scams from this thread anyway.
Seems also like waiting times are very variable depending where you live.
My 3 week wait is nearly up and my symptoms are still the same, so this Thursday I'll trot down there for my appointment and see what Doc has to say. Hopefully I'll avoid catching any bugs in the waiting room.....

I logged into the online booking system yesterday at 10PM and have appointment at 10:30 in the morning.
In the past a few times I have been ill and logged into the system at 3AM and have an appointment for the same day around 9AM.
It also allows me to get repeat prescriptions and see parts of my medical history. Seems to work well for me at least.
Sorry I re-read this and it looks like I am going to the docs tomorrow but not being ill, I have a skin condition that is getting worse.
Very worse. You can imagine how so. It is even in my ears

Like i said i asked for an evening appointment but as it turned out it was the next available ROUTINE (non urgent) appointment available.
Going well now though Dr has rang me to arrange to see me next thursday to discuss results

Threads like this make me wonder why more people don't use a Private GP service?
Call during the morning, and you can be seen by lunchtime, have a 15 min appointment, and non patent prescriptions can cost less than the £8 NHS standard charge too.
