So - Update after pretty much exactly a month.

I'm happy to say, I found the motivation to do what needed to be done. To be honest with you, all I did was shut my brain off, wait until about 9pm and went to my gym. Just got out of the car and walked straight in and had a good, 30 min session.

Since then, I've been going 3-4 times a week and my sessions now last 90 mins, which is 45 mins cardio, 45 mins weights. Combined with this, I've started watching what I eat and introduced Diet Whey protein to my diet too which has helped enormously as it contributes towards my breakfast on the go.

Unfortunately, the last week involved 2 bday parties, a wedding and a stag party. This was bad news for my diet and regime so It's been at a bit of a standstil, and I'm sad to say that I've put a bit of the weight back on and am feeling quite bloated.

BUT!

I am determined now and as of today I am back to my diet, back to my excercise and back to watching every single thing that I eat. Lets hope that in a few months I can report that I am a much happier man.

Thank you to everyone that helped.

Good work.

Parties, staying in hotels etc, needn't put you back to square one though. Take your training clothes with you and go for a walk, run, do pressups etc.

Many , many ideas are out there!

There seem to be more and more people doing this sort of thing.

Get a bicycle, brilliant for the mood and for weight loss smile
I'd echo what rob said,,
Cycling isn't just about physics excercise, it's qualify time spent away from the phone / computer and gives you a chance to vanish inside your head for a bit, espcially now it's getting warmer
I'll 3rd this.

I've lost about 4 stone since new year and I absolutely love getting out on the bike in all weathers.

Get Strava and set some targets. I'm trying to do 100 miles a week. Some weeks I do it some weeks I don't other weeks I blow it out of the water.

It gets quite addictive and to begin with, 10 miles would leave me exhausted but now 60, 70 or even 80 miles is easily achievable.

Done a couple of events too which gives you something to aim at.

It's addictive.

I've never had a problem because the sports (Cycling (MTB), football etc) I enjoy also keep me in shape and consider myself lucky with that.

But I understand why it is hard for a lot of people to find the motivation to get fit when the obvious option is to go to a gym (something I struggle with motivation for and don't bother) or run which are not the most interesting activities and not even a nice experience (gym).

Keeping fit doesn't have to be boring. Just have a look about what sports you may enjoy. never too late to take something up either.

And when you were being filmed don't be afraid to speak to the staff there.

Building the exercise in my daily routine and social live is a great motivator for me. I'm currently run commuting, it's only 3.5km but it actually takes me about as long to run home as it does to take the bus, so I'm getting the exercise without it actually costing me much time. I've since found a 4.5km route through the woods that's more interesting that 3.5km or pavement, and depending how I feel this evening I think I've worked out a 6ish km route trough the dunes and back long the beach. However I think the biggest motivator is that my wife runs, we now have a lot of friends that run so meeting up with the running club in an evening, or entering a race at a weekend has become a social thing not a chore.
