Hell's bells... I have heart problems too (having a stent fitted tomorrow) and I've been reading this thread willing him to recover. So terribly sad; my condolences to all Russ's friends, family and colleagues.

Not someone i had met but enough of a man to start this thread and make me realise I couldn't bury my head in the sand any longer.

This thread has meant a life change for me and its owed in no small part to the OP.

RIP.

I never had the pleasure to meet DMN but I had the pleasure of his posts; a man of kind and humble words and who's utter straightforward decency shone through.

This forum is stronger and better for that which he shared with us; he paved the way for many others to discuss difficult times in their lives and many of his posts were of great support to a great many.

DMN, may you rest in peace and I hope your family have all the support they can at what must be an immensely difficult time. Godspeed, good sir.

After getting home from work, I was hoping & praying that I had somehow fallen asleep at work & that this had been some horrible dream! I realised pretty quickly that it wasn't. Such a terrible shame & as others have mentioned, I just feel numb & in total shock. I can echo what others have said about his contributions on PH but for me the thing that stood out the most was his ability to almost make everything seem ok even when he was going through hell a couple of years ago, he still took the time to somehow make you feel happy & welcome! Life can be so cruel at times & this is a prime example of that & hand on heart I can genuinely say that I have never felt so saddened by the sad loss of somebody I never actually met, but somebody I will always call my mate! Keep looking down on us mate & we will never forget you xxx

So, I've been having a pretty awful day, checked into PH for some distraction and read this terrible news. I am very sad that today will be the last time DMN will bring much needed perspective to my woes. Sleep well and thank you for everything xxx

Truly shocked to hear this news.

God rest Russell, you offered myself and many others sage words over the years, especially those of us that have had to deal with Cancer in one form or another.

Thoughts to your family and friends.

I followed this thread from the beginning & drew a lot of inspiration from his posts.

Having survived a HA myself a couple of years ago, it really does bring home the fragility of life.

God Bless you fella. RIP

Saw this on Russell's Facebook, couldn't really work it out.. Took a few attempts at reading it to work out what was going on.

Then I realised.

Russ helped me when he found out my dad had died, gave me help and advice, online. I eventually met him at a DD meet up, he was an incredible person - truly brilliant. He touched so many people's lives, helped countless people.

Im absolutely gutted.

Thoughts are with his family.

RIP Russell.
