A journey through a heart attack and out the other side
Discussion
Terribly sad news. The first few weeks after an MI are known to be high risk - after which the risk of further issues significantly drops off.
I didn't know him, but had emailed about my experiences in the hope it would give him optimism about the future - I just hope it was quick and painless for him.
Can't think what his family will be going through right now.

Russell - driving_me_nuts - passed away yesterday, the cause is yet to be established.
Goodbye my dearest friend.
There will never be another like you.
It was a privilege to know you.

Genuinely shocked and very very sad to hear this. He became a good mate while Lily was ill and his kindness and generous offers of support to me subsequently meant a lot.
Vale Russell.

Genuinely stunned to read this.
I was at the Lily car get together and subsequently met Russ for lunch and a catch up as we both live in Brighton.
One of the most genuine lovely people you could wish to meet
So saddened to hear this news.
RIP Russ
I too was at that get together and that was the only time I met Russell, but you could tell he was a lovely guy and I am so saddened to read the news of his passing. I was at the Lily car get together and subsequently met Russ for lunch and a catch up as we both live in Brighton.

There are many great people on PH, but Russell had an ability to connect with many many people and his words of comfort reached out to those who were struggling with illness. His humanity and warmth were humbling to me, and his lack of self pity while helping others was an inspiration. The world and PH are much poorer for his loss. A tragedy to hear this terrible news.
RIP.
RIP.
RIP DMN
Like many here i never knew him in real life, but he and i exchanged some posts here, some of which where him helping me get my head sorted with some difficult stuff i have going on, which i really appreciated
I hope his friends and family are OK, cant imagine something like this happening to someone still young.

I've just read this thread from start to finish, never expecting it to end the way it has. What a shock!
I find myself sitting here with tears in my eyes for a man who I never knew..
He seemed like one of life's good guys, if I had the pleasure of meeting him I'm sure I would have liked him. He seemed to write with such well chosen and thoughtful words.
Very sad.

What terrible news. Condolences to his family and to those who are close to him. I was one of the countless people who followed his journey with Lily from a distance and was so deeply touched by the extraordinary depth of his humanity. Not enough people like DMN in this world. RIP
You have reminded me of a phrase I once used of a work colleague at his funeral: "If the world were made of *Russells it would be a far better place than it is."(*substituted Russell for my colleague Malcolm)

You're very right!!(*substituted Russell for my colleague Malcolm)
Coincidentally #BemoreRuss was coined by a close friend of his yesterday and is currently trending amongst his FB friends with this picture (DMN took a teddy on his travels for Lilly)
