Keep going! There will be ups and downs but keep it heading up and you will be sorted.

Why did you stop running marathons? OK stupid question, distance running just seems like masochism to me lol..

Hi Robster,

I just logged on after a long stty day in work and seeing your post brought me a lot of joy (made my day in fact). I know it wasn't easy so good on you, shows the inner strength you have. Be proud of yourself, because everyone reading your updates is proud of you.

Thanks

Pat

So hopefully this will encourage people , but through the support and kindness of everyone , I've got up, done my cv, arranged counciling , update LinkedIn profile , went food shopping , can't belive the energy I have had today and it's down to you guys!
You should also give yourself the credit for trying so hard and helping yourself. You are doing absolutely amazing and showing real drive and determination to pick yourself up. Muchos kudos to you bro beer

Well done today rob, sounds like you've had a productive and fulfilling day.

Now use the energy you have today to start thinking about the little goals you are going to achieve tomorrow.

Make a plan for them and get it done! smile

Just found this thread tonight and have read read the whole thing.

Hat's off to you Rob, takes a huge amount of will power to turn things around like you've done.

Just keep putting one foot in front of the other and you will come out the other side.

Fantastic to see PH at it's best beer

OK rob so today's goal was the CV and then extended to LinkedIn. Well done. Tomorrows goal is to get on the job sites with a profile similar to LinkedIn and go from there. Set yourself something to do about a new job every few days and focus on it. When you've done it reward yourself with your favourite biscuits or sweets or something. Kick the alcohol in to touch for the time being, eat well and vary your diet and get back out running. Even a short distance every few days getting further and faster each time will make you feel better.

Oh and when that interview comes knocking email me and I'll put you through my interview preparation boot camp. It's not easy and it will push you but will have you fired up and ready when you enter the room

Really good to see you thinking and writing so positively about the future Rob. Pity I'm not closer (I'm in Derbyshire) as I too worked in retail management as a store and group manager and buyer and grew up not far from Shepperton in Hampton so we have a few things in common. Your LinkedIn profile reads well, best of luck in your job hunt - check out Bentalls, they have some positions available: http://www.bentallcentre.co.uk/careers/

I might have missed it, but is there a physical reason why you don't any more? Now is the time to start again... even just with a couple of miles at first.

yes It'd all be worth st if you weren't trying too.

Perfect example for recovery really - it takes both. Almost nobody can go the distance on their own, we're not built to survive alone, but all the resources in the world won't help if the person at the centre of it all isn't ready to make use of them.

Good man. Get back on to LinkedIn too and update your skills section. You can have up to 50 skills listed and these are the key words that recruiters search for. Join some of the groups on there that are in your field of interest and start to contribute to the discussions to raise your profile.
