Hi Pistonheads

I am very unhappy with the service received from my opticians/contact lens supplier.

My last eyetest/contact lens check has expired and I am told I need to have a new check to obtain a supply of contacts.

I need to keep costs down. Please can you advise me of a reputable online supplier online and a company who could perform the eyetest but not tie me into a contract or who provide a prompt postal service at a reasonable cost?

Thank you for any advice and tips

You can go anywhere for an eye test and then just go online and find the contacts you want at the cheapest price. You don't need to order them from the company that does your eye test.

I have been going to the optician at Costco for ages.

Thorough eye test and usually some offers on contact lenses

OP, not sure of you use rigid or soft lens contacts but I found that the company below were the cheapest for my rigid lenses. Excellent customer service too and saved me 50% over buying them in the UK (£120 vs £240!!!).

I had an eye test and they said my prescription hadn't changed, so just input my details from the existing contact lenses I had into the online thingy and bobs your uncle less than two weeks later news lenses arrived as promised. I bought the same type that I have used for the past 5 years as they allow me to leave them in for thirty days between cleans, including sleeping in them. Brilliant product!

30 days?!

I can't wait to take mine out after about 10 hours usually.

I don't think mine are a perfect fit because of my astigmatism though, guess that's maybe why. frown

They are exceptionally cheap and almost seem to fall into the too good to be true category? Shame they don't appear to do lenses for astigmatism.

I have been using www.feelgoodcontacts.com and I have never been asked for a copy of my prescription, although obviously it is sensible to get your eyes checked regularly elsewhere. I wear Acuvue daily moist with one side being for astigmatism and a months supply costs about £33 including delivery and I just reorder when I want to, no subscription. Sometimes it is cheaper if you search for them via the Google shopping search rather than direct on their own website. confused

OP can you make use of one of the free eye tests and 5 day trials they offer at various high street stores, get your prescription and then just buy online?

The joy of rigids. A have an astigmatism in my right eye and have no issues with lens fit, though I notice my right one get protein build-up before the left.

These rigid lenses allow more oxygen to the eye and I find they don't get dry, no comfort issues at all. Forget I'm wearing them unless I get a bit of crap in behind them!
