PHAT fighters Q1 Weight Loss Challenge
Discussion
108.1kg on Jan 9, which is when we started (the Missus is on board too)
106.2kg this morning (Jan 16), so things are moving in the right direction.
Is it too late to be added to the list?
We're currently off the booze (recommended!), both sacked smoking around Dec 20, and as of this week we're making concious changes to our diet. This may or may not have coincided with me eating the last of the Xmas chocolate.
All good so far. We have the incentive of a summer trip to Australia so want to look as good asmpossible for friends and family over there. Being off the booze has meant better sleeping patterns and (unsurprisingly) improved energy levels in the mornings.

Well done everyone. Just been questioned why mu lunch was the size of a pack of crisps!
Some key points:
1) It is good to be hungry
2) We are not going to suffer from eating less
3) Drink more water
4) Going to bed hungry is more positive than going with full stomach
5) Being hungry is good, it means you are not adding weight
6) Try to eat to 75% of your stomach, leave some room for some water and to help your digestive system
7) Women like healthy men
8) Women like wheepspins and loud stereos
9) Being attractive is good for self esteem, well being and the wife (keeps her on her toes)
10) Yes it is hard, but so is everything else
11) Yes it does hurt but it is more mental than physical.
...and waits to be berated...
The hunger one is a really interesting point. Whenever I realise I'm putting on weight and start to watch what I eat, I feel hungry. This then reminds me that during my "getting tubbier" times, I rarely feel hungry. Never feeling hunger isn't natural. Obviously going to extremes isn't good. I would say 5) Never being hungry is bad. Some key points:

Anyway, a day late since I was offline yesterday, but my weigh in was 76.1 kg as of this morning. Heading in the right direction, and getting better at eating more on exercise days, eating less on rest days and keeping it all as good as possible. That said, I had a cheat meal on Friday night which came in at a whopping 1650 cals on its own and my first pizza of 2017 (pizza is my biggest vice, I would say) yesterday, which was 900 cal as a lunch. Time to refocus on the long term goal.
Exercise-wise, I've continued doing the Joe Wicks HIIT sessions from youtube. Whatever you think of the guy, there's no escaping the fact the sessions are pretty comprehensive body workouts and if you put the effort in, bloody hard work. I could barely speak after last nights, and was on an endorphin high afterwards. No more late night circuits for me!
I still eat fairly big meals but with bigger gaps between them, big bowl of Spag Bol last night (no seconds, no garlic bread nowadays though) having been to the gym, that was at seven, just had the remainder now at noon, was ravenous but had gone 17 hours since last time I ate, I cycled in as well.
It is too easy for us to, the minute we feel hungry, just eat whatever is available to make it go away but really, it isnt the end of the world, I am fuelled and ready now until about 6.30/7pm, may have some nuts and a tangerine before my ride home if I feel like I need them.
You get to feel what, and how much your body needs a bit more, a bit more tuned in and you come to realise that sugar/high carb stuff just ends up making you hungrier than if you didnt bother.
I like to go to bed thinking "that was a good day" and wondering what the scales will say in the morning, that has become my motivation, so I think when making that 11:30PM fridge raid that it may bias the mornings reading so perhaps dont have it, then you go to bed a bit hungry, then wake up and guess what, you arent hungry, try a brew first, might just need fluids.
I find it is all about using these little quirks, like the waking up not hungry, like waiting a while after eating etc etc that make the difference and I dont feel like I am on a diet as that used to drive me mad, it needs to be a permanent mindset.

Another 1lb off last week, so on 14/01 was 67.47kg.
Always dubious about only losing 1lb since your body fluctuates so much during the day anyway...
Prob shouldn't type this at lunch but I once did a before & after poo weigh-in and it was 2lb... hence my natural aversion to gleefully stating I lost a whole 1lb, but hey... the weight seems to be going from where I want and I'm eating healthily - definitely not starving.
Well done all the "losers" so far - keep going

Update time!
We have lost 2.6% on average so far.
That's 75 kg overall - or Smitters!
We still collectively weigh above 4 tonnes, but I reckon by the end of the month we'll be starting with a 3.

1 day late registering i'm afraid but did weigh yesterday. Been ill
103kg still. No change
Did put away a pizza and 2 garlic bread on Sunday which probably undid work the 5 mile walk on Saturday evening.
Onwards to this week. Plan more exercise as so far not done any other than get up off the sofa to the fridge.

Starting to see progress in the right direction since replacing my scales!, yesterday weighed in at 109.25, this morning down to 108.66 (just below my original incorrect measurement), happy days - 2.89% .
Also noticed small changes to how I look in the mirror, feeling better in the gym and also generally motivated to get my arse out of bed at half 5 and hit the gym for 6.
There are improvements to be made in my diet, not in relation to the amount of calories or macro's I'm taking in but rather the variety of food and I can definitely include more veggies and clean meats (chicken, turkey etc.).
I've varied my gym sessions a little to include 20 minutes of conditioning at the end of my weights session, I don't plan my conditioning but rather do what I feel is right for the day. An example would be intervals on the ski-erg or rower followed by battle ropes and Plyo jumps or skipping, farmers walks and sled push/pulls, just keeping it varied really.

Weighed in at 136.2kg this morning and feeling so much better. Not feeling bloated any more after eating and when I wake up in the morning it feels good to be a little hungry compared to still full from the night before.
Not always having breakfast if I am not hungry, if I do it's poached eggs and lunch is normally rice and chicken to eating cleaner as well, no supermarket sandwiches!

No change so far this week.
Have got a 3.3 mile Lunch time run with colleagues which I have done once a week with colleagues in order to supplement cycling - have taken pretty massive strides - taking minutes off my run. From an 11 and a bit minute mile, to a 10 and a 9.30 yesterday.
That's encouraging. And this jacket now fits too
