Back in September at my mid life MOT I was circa 83kg and running 3 miles, 3 times a week in circa 26 and a half minutes. Today I'm 71.3 kg and have run the three miles in just over 21 mins today, less timber and better fitness making a huge difference.
Have entered the great east run later in the year (half marathon) and looking to lose about another 4-5 kilo's to be about right for a short ar$e (5'6").
Diet wise just keep away form lots of carbs and refined sugar and as you lose weight you automatically reduce portion sizes which accelerates the loss. Was hard going to start with but I'm now totally in control of my fitness and weight, the discipline becomes routine after a while.
Just sharing as encouragement to anyone who's finding it tough going- keep at it and you'll get there.

Thanks and agree, it just needs perseverence. Once you feel the benefits it becomes something you value and don't want to let go. It also allows you to fall off the wagon every now and then and not feel guilty!

I have stopped eating sweet foods for the last two weeks and it's only been the last two or three days that the craving has stopped.

I did the same last year for four or five months and it only took a week to get over it. I think I stretched it out longer this time because I have eaten some apples and bananas this week, where as last time I cut those out.

I had a Tesco Lamb Tagine last night and found it unpleasantly sweet. When I checked it had 4 teaspoons of sugar in it! Totally ruined it. Last year I had to stop eating honey mustard chicken from the sandwich shop near work for the same reason.

Try it guys, once you have got through the first two weeks without sugar, you just wont want it any more. I only started on it again last year because it was Christmas. Started with a few chocolates in the office, cakes for someone's birthday and before I know it I am wolfing down big bags of M&Ms from the petrol station!

Absolutely, I fell off last night but had been to the gym for an hour and a bit, just had a few drinks and some white Ferrero Rocher which were awesome, but, wont have any until the next time, a treat and what makes this easier, knowing that you can have something if you fancy it but most of the time you need to be on it and eating sensibly.

Even came down a smidge this morning. My aims have changed now, from not being a fat bd to being lean and muscled, my missus made a comment a year or so back "Why cant you look like that ?" when a picture of James Bond in his trunks came on, so that is my new aim, buy some blue Speedos biggrin

Hello to all.
I started using My Fitness Pall on the 9th January. I stopped drinking on the 7th January.
I eat 2000 calories a day with a target of eating at least 25% protein.
I have now lost 158kg/2.48 stones. 10.1% of my starting body weight since 9th January. I do have a stressful and very physical job.
I do have a huge amount to loose though. I'm currently on 140.7kg and my aim is 115kg by August and 100kg by Christmas.
Not drinking alcohol is critical for me.
My plan is no alcohol until April. Then 2-3 beers for my birthday then nothing until August when we are going to Thailand on BA in First, 3 weeks of free for all then no drinking until Christmas.

I've been a bit slack the last week or so, after dry January I wanted to carry on until the end of this weight loss challenge but I've been back drinking and snacking, got wasted last night and feel awful.

I intend on getting back on the wagon now until April and get those kg's shifted.

Had a big meal out last night and a few pints and I'm now weighing in over a kilo more than Saturday morning frown I'm hoping it's like the opposite of quick water weight loss and will go over the week or so!

Did feel good to have a nice blow out meal for the first time in weeks though!

I just tried this running thing, weirdly enjoyed it, only a mile or so but found it to be tolerable.

Did a good session at the gym, have abandoned the cross trainer and am solely doing strength stuff now in the gym, will consider my daily dog walk and riding to work as my cardio aspect.

Bought some nice New tops, in XL instead of XXL, bought 400 quids worth of xxl stuff before I started, still fits but to big really, I am now bulkier in the back and shoulders, any suggestions of clothing lines that cater for that body shape as they tend to have too much round the belly area when they fit on the top ?

10st 5 1/2 in real money, which equates to 66kg.
Pretty happy with that as I was 10st 11 on 1st Jan, and pretty much at my target weight.

Not been 10st5 for.. possibly 25 years... (disregarding a crohns flareup in 98 where I went down to 8st and had an emergency op).

So, how do I now get to a muscular, ripped adonis? (Actually, sod that... I'd rather some cake tbh...)

It will be, i was 2 pounds heavier Sunday morning than Saturday, mainly as I had a massive, but healthy stir fry, I was just basically a mass of half digested veg biggrin

Creeping down very slowly I'm 100.4kg now.

Been feeling flat for a while so I've had a few blood tests done at the docs one thing that is being tested is my testosterone levels which some of the symptoms are weight gain and difficulty losing it also muscle problems I've been struggling with sore upper back and chest muscles it feels like I'm unable to build them up.

Bit of a crap week due to peer pressure and walking past the tuck shop in the office.

Also had a dirty kebab on Sunday and cheesy chips...

But weigh day today, 122.7kg. Up 0.2kg from last week. Annoyed its gone up, but could have been a lot worse!

Fell of the diet and alcohol wagons on the weekend. It was always planned though, so a planned fall.

Wine and cheese on friday night. Wine and pizza on saturday night. Beer on Sunday night.

I'm not gonna weigh myself until wednesday.

Just to prove it can be done, I went for a curry on Saturday night...

Tandoori mixed grill
Sag paneer
Couple of spoonfulls of mushroom rice
2 Poppadum
2 Diet Coke (still dry this year...)

Supposedly came out at 950 calories according to MFP- mostly protein and fat as well so all good. Seeing as I had referee'd a footie match that day and probably burnt much of those calories already, I think I had a pretty good day.

A takeaway doesn't have to be bad. I even enjoyed having a curry that didn't sting my mouth (or my ringpiece).

Once again, an earnest start to the week and a total failure in the second half.

As a result I am still hovering around 13'9

clothes are looser though and I did my first sub half hour lunch run of 3.2 miles yesterday, which included a sub 8 minute mile at the start (I may have gone off a bit quick).

All progress

That's not fat in fairness

I was a pound heavier this morning than I was last night. That's because there was a pound of chicken and veg in me.
