Personally I find that going into total denial mode (oh I do love crap) means I just cave totally and it all fails.

So if I fancy a pizza or fish and chips or whatever, I do it on a day when I am doing some exercise and don't go mad.

I am staring down the barrel of my first stall I think this week - inevitable after such a rapid start. Keeping strong and not giving in to dietary nihilism is key.....

Can confirm this week has stalled totally.

However all my clothes are looser and I do look visibly better. So reasons to be cheerful and enough for it not to be too demoralising

Back to paying attention this week. Actually 1lb up on this time last week.

Ran 10 (lumbering, slow) miles yesterday (11 if you are charitable enough to ignore the 20 minute gap between the first and second miles - I ran to the station, took the train somewhere and ran home)

However - clothes are definitely looser - and I am making my way down the belt notches still So happy days.

The belt doesn't lie.

Hmmm. Maybe feeling as hungry as hell last nights has skewed my judgement a bit.

But I have been stuck at around 13' 10' (give or take a pound) for ten days and to be honest am feeling a bit bloody down.

The temptation to dive head first into a Chinese is strong.

I think I will reduce the carb portions a little and increase the meat a bit.

I generally use something basic like a chilli or something from the hairy bikers diet books (seriously they are pretty good). You can have a reasonable portion of something like Chicken Jalfrezi at about 280 kcals (I've measured it all, they aren't lying). So I reckon that up by 50% and carbs (usually 75 grams of rice at about 260 odd kclas) down to 50 grams.

So that's still only around 600 kclas and may stop me trying to eat my own hand of an evening. Or worse, just pinching the odd chocolate here and there and neglecting to remember it all adds up.

This is going to make me sound like an ungrateful little bh.

But I have to go out for lunch twice this week, both times for business, and whilst they are decent people - what I actually want to do is go for a run, rather than surrender my diet to a restaurant and taking pot luck as to what sounds the healthiest.

That's a little lie as for one of them what I actually want to do is go and help my Dad look at a Riley.

Still unwelcome though.

I should really be more grateful for having a job which allows for business to be done in such convivial surroundings.

I have been hovering around the 13' 10 mark for 11 days now - determined to get it moving this week.

Still hungry as all hell.

Anyway - I have cycled or run a total of 172 miles in January.

Some drop from the 400 a month I would do 2 years ago. But more than the bugger all a month I was doing last year

I think the not buying the crap is key. Food discipline has been woeful. Still hovering round 190-193 lbs

However I have brought my 3.2 mile lunch run from a one third walked 39:25 @ 11:56 per mile on January 5th to a 30:48 @ 9:01 per mile today.

So something is obviously happening!

Once again, an earnest start to the week and a total failure in the second half.

As a result I am still hovering around 13'9

clothes are looser though and I did my first sub half hour lunch run of 3.2 miles yesterday, which included a sub 8 minute mile at the start (I may have gone off a bit quick).

All progress

That's not fat in fairness

I was a pound heavier this morning than I was last night. That's because there was a pound of chicken and veg in me.

Run on Monday - cycled to work yesterday and again today.

The bright side of it is that I am getting quicker on everything, so gains are obviously there.

If I don't get off 13 bloody 9 this week Im going to dive face first into a massive plate of fish and chips and you bds can't stop me smile

I reckon I have cracked this

13 6 all of a sudden. So under 13 and a half and also officially 1 stone down. This is the first week for 3 when I have done a lot of exercise. - 1 lunch run and two cycle commutes - will get one more thing in as well. I have been dodging it because its been below freezing in the morning, so cyclings been off - and work gets in the way of consistent lunch runs

I think I need exercise as a catalyst.

Feeling reasonably satisfied now

A stressful couple of days has lead on to eeating rubbish in too big a quantity, and drinking more than I should as well.

Consuming this stuff as an emotional crutch is an awful habit.
