My nephew is recently 9 and has been diagnosed as being autistic about 3 years ago, it's gradually getting worse and his tantrums over various things like eating or getting dress / ready for school are getting worse.
Any other people on here have any advice or similar situations?

He is 9 now, I am worried how he will cope at secondary school or into the wider world getting a job etc. He acts about 5 years old and progress is slow. The family are involved with Austism outreach but the services seem so stretched and under pressure they dont really offer much help.

Is he statemented?

If not, once the above has been completed a huge number of more appropriate schools/options are opened up.

Depending on where you live I can recommend a very good day school which specialises in this and aspergers without being a SEN school per-say, it is expensive but the above statementing resulted in the council picking up the bill as is was deemed by far the most appropriate place for my bother given his needs and challenges (not autism but speech & language, developmental delay and some autism traits). Once he was there his behaviour came on leaps and bounds, it even helped that they carried some weight to get him into a far more suitable secondary school to which he was cabbed to every day, again the school fees picked up by the local council.

We are based in Orpington so LB Bromley, the two schools are:

Browns, Chelsfield - https://www.brownsschool.co.uk/ (believe this does secondary too now)
Centre Academy, Battersea - http://www.centreacademy.net/

As above, if he has statement an SEN school is the best place for him. I fostered a 9yr old boy with educational level of 4-5, he had been at a standard primary school and it just didn't work, partly to no routine from family and partly due to his behaviour. He stayed with me for just over a year and had 100% attendance and happily went to school, it's a comfort blanket
