Well that is good. Why not book a marathon and use your current fitness to full effect? I know lots of people who walk out a marathon distance.

Yikes, I am going to try a parkrun or two first! Maybe a marathon later on ...https://www.100marathonclub.org.uk/events/

It's tendonitis apparently, which should clear up in a few weeks, given rest etc.
Good luck with that - mine has lasted since January and it's only starting to really clear up now!Mine was hamstring related though, maybe it makes a difference.
Hopefully mine will clear up a bit sooner. I am already bored having stopped running for the time being

Argh sorry to read that, it sounds a bit pants for you!

What helped me was a combination of stretches, strengthening exercises and then gradually increasing the load through it as I returned to exercising. Rest seemed to make no difference at all and the problem came back as soon as I restarted exercising.Hopefully mine will clear up a bit sooner. Hopefully yours will be better - good luck!
In other news, today I have just found out I've passed the final unit on my CMI diploma course - now all I have to do is wait for the internal and external moderators to give everything the all clear, and I am home free..
After some of the absolute st news I had this week (e.g. my 19 century French violin, which I was selling to pay the final builder's bill, got "lost" by the violin shop and they've now gone bust with massive debts) this is fantastic.

Thanks, I've been told to look up exercises where I point toes up, heel down, if that makes any sense - I've self-referred to physio anyway, though there's a bit of a wait.Hopefully yours will be better - good luck!
I do find if I don't move about, everything stiffens up and then I am back limping round like Quasimodo until the tendons warm up again.
The ankle injury is still problematic. Arse.
I've been swimming off and on but it aggravates the injury - the Achilles swells up again the next day. The one plus is that I've seen a physio and they reckon the tendon is still solid.
I have managed to lose a little more weight but only through intermittent fasting.
Oh and I also got a promotion at work, completely new role to the company, so I am back in the deep end where I like it!

Walking is fantastic, get everyone settled for the night if possible, and then, late on, march the streets, I do a couple of miles most nights, clears my head and I pick litter up as I go, stick some tunes on the phone and go.
I do my best thinking when walking, work, home life, future whatever, gets the brain and endorphins going.
Ha, so I am not the only litter picker. I generally take the dog (though at 20kg and nearly 15 years old he's a bugger to lift over any stiles) so have loads of little bin bags with me... one inevitably gets used for any cans and wrappers I pick up on the way.I do my best thinking when walking, work, home life, future whatever, gets the brain and endorphins going.
I try and do it in the morning as there's few street lights round here. I only have time for decent mileage at the weekend

A year on from the OP and things are pretty depressing. The OH has been very depressed for a a couple of years and a new job has caused a great deal of fatigue. Our youngest is suffering from big anxieties over SATs and school transitions, always on the brink, squealing, rocking, nonsense chatter at 100 miles an hour, obsessed with Roblox and making slime (she’s on the waiting list for an autism assessment, my eldest already has a diagnosis ) . Work is pretty full on too and my weight is creeping up due to lack of sleep.
Little things pick me up here and there- I do Krav Maga and yoga. I have started a distance learning course on machine learning and whilst I am behind, I’ve actually passed the first set of assessments. I also abseiled 100ft down a local landmark earlier this month.
I not sure there’s much I can do except accept things are winding me up and to wait for things to pick up. Of course it might be easier if I did less but to be honest the busyness keeps me sane. Thanks for reading.

Hang on in there. I have had a rough six months, with a job ending and some health scares. But things seem to be getting better, slowly. Think it will take the rest of this year to get back to some normality but guess that's life.Little things pick me up here and there- I do Krav Maga and yoga. Change what you can change, accept the things you cannot, and definitely keep doing the fun stuff. And don't try to blame your weight on lack of sleep! Being happy with your body is a big plus, and what you eat or don't eat is definitely in the first category. If you feel you can only keep a grip on one thing, make it that one!
All the best.

Thanks and congratulations on the new job. How are you finding the commute?grumbledoak said:

It appears that I have to be strict keto with IF to lose and I definitely find it very difficult to stick to that when I am fatigued. I have slipped to moderate carb - unfortunately the tipping point appears to be around 40-60g carbs so everything is going in reverse at the moment. I also can’t change the kids and the fun stuff (and even working) is at odds with them. My eldest has been school refusing for the last 2 days, having panic attacks because her best friend has been ruminating to her about an argument with her mother (she lost her mum a few years ago, I am her aunt). My youngest is currently screaming the house down, I think there is another practice SATs test today. I am main earner but also the one who deals with this kind of stuff, and muddling through has been a nightmare
I thought I would post an update because I am really feeling rather crap at the moment. I am still plodding along. Life is quite tough my two autistic kids, though, and I have been feeling it a lot lately.
I'm in a 6 month weight loss stall, but I'm back doing intermittent fasting after a couple of weeks of travel. First day today.
I got myself a little Eunos project car. It was an impulse buy and as I didn't have any money set aside for it, now I am rather broke, just as some extra bills have come through, but hey, it passed the MOT, it's lots of fun to drive and I'm even able to commute to work in it. I think I may also have sorted the mystery water leak which the garage couldn't locate (thank you Radweld Plus).
On cars, I went to Cov Motofest over the weekend and the passenger rides offered by Loughborough Car Club were absolutely epic, they really made me smile.
I haven't run for ages - I am having to put my 11 year old to bed most nights, just like a toddler, and just don't have the time to fit a run in. But I do manage to get to krav maga once a week.
Most of the studying has stopped for a bit as I just don't have the time or energy. However I did get a foundation certificate in public speaking a month ago.
I also managed to landscape half the back garden, two years after the building work was completed, and laid a lawn where all the rubble used to be.
I have now also signed up to do the world's fastest zipwire for a local charity. It was on the bucket list anyway. I don't drink or smoke, so stupid stunts really are my only big vice these days (apart from the coffee).
ETA things are probably a little better than they used to be - I can’t claim all the above on my own this time which means the OH is feeling a bit better
