I haven't. Just pill(s) in pocket approach.

Agreed that alcohol can trigger, but it seems mine is a little more than that.

so...you haven't been diagnosed with AF - paroxysmal or otherwise?

Yes, I have been diagnosed with AF, hence the prescription.

I was under 40 when the inital diagnosis happened, and all other indicators are in the 'normal' range, except for weight as I was a heavyweight MMA fighter and rugby player...

if you have confirmed i.e. diagnosed AF, have you been prescribed blood thinners to reduce the chance of a stroke?
No. All other health indicators in the green, so not considered necessary. I did a course of Amiodarone when it was first diagnosed, but in general would like to avoid drugs if possible, so weight, fitness, hydration, less booze is the way forward.

You can be the healthiest person in the world but AF will still cause clots in your left atrial appendage that can travel to your brain, ie a CVA.
Unless you mean you don’t get AF unless you’ve been on it AKA holiday heart?

I suffer from tachycardia and AF and am not on blood pressure pills , I do pill in pocket routine if I get a really bad attack and that seems to work unlike the three ops I have had (2x right side, 1x left and right side which was not very nice)

I always feel very tired after an attack and a bit crap but it passes..

But they haven't worked, or have they made it a bit better? Sorry, have to ask (you don't have to answer), but it is a potential route later on in life....

No change, the first two were not bad but the double one was a crap, ended up being about 9 hours, pressure pads on the cuts (wrist and groin) that could not stop the bleeding for ages, felt like death for days and then figured I had a UTI as a side effect frown

Taking my chances now, nit going through that again. As said the first ones on the right side were fine, bit ropey for a few days after but not bad, it's the lft side one that was a pest as they have to put a hole in your heart to do it....

Pill in pocket now when I get a bad attack, takes about 30 mins after 3 pills to get it to behave, then all I want to do is sleep!

Does anyone suffer during the nigh / early hours with suddenly waking up & the feeling of being filled with hot blood, starting in the arm & legs, heart rate increases at the same time, last for several minutes, can have this 2or 3 times in one night, then nothing for a week or so.

Currently waiting for cardio appointment to have a heart scan & moniter fitted, been put on Bisoprolol 2.5mg & Rivaroxaban 20mg since being took to A&E 6 weeks ago with very high heart rate, advised it AF not suffered any of this night time condition prior to taking the above.

No, not me. Sounds disturbing.

I've had a lot of dead arms over the last few months, mainly the left arm. But nothing like that. Good luck!

Glad i found this thread as ive posted frantically elsewhere twice already today !

Im sure my wife has AF though its yet to be confirmed but all is in hand with regards seeing a cardiologist.

Obviously as of yet we don't know what path we'll be taking but its reassuring to hear help is at hand.

Just one remaining question - Whats the worse thing that can happen here if the condition is fully treatable ? TIA

Worst thing? She lives out the rest of her life happily married to you! hehe

Seriously though - the cardiologist would be best to talk to about that. The options go from change the environment she is in (less stress, less booze, less salt, more water etc), then pill in pocket approach. When they stop working, then it's ablation. If that doesn't work....

Seriously though, shout if there are questions. It seems a number of us live with it and are in different stages. Good luck to the lady.

I thought I would live up to a promise and share with you some of the EKGs I've got. I use a Kardia device, that allows me to record to my phone. This was brilliant, as the cardiologist said it aided him diagnosing me much quicker.

This was today. Resting heart rate of 54ish, then this...... This has been happening for the last hour. No idea if it's worth taking a Flecainide or not. But as I'm trying this, it's getting wosrse, so I may.

Next up is something I call 'butterflies'. It's a fluttering in your chest. This is what it looks like on a graph:

Then there are thumps. You can actually feel this if you are touching my chest.

Finally, this was a really bad one. I know it's bad when the bottom line is all fuzzy....

There you go. Hope this is of use to someone.

I use Kardia as well, it is a great tool, your graphs look similar to mine although I have a lot that are really quick as well (180+ )

Well worth getting one of those if you are getting symptoms for sure.

Well today has been so bad I've doubled up on the pill in pocket drugs, a few hours apart. Never done that before. Or had to do that before. Still not settled.
