OP wants a deodorant that isn't cheap smelling, one with no fragrance fits the bill.
A non smelling deodorant? Water maybe.

Ted Baker Sterling Blue, or Rock Face (the one in the green can). Both aftershave quality scents and the Rock Face one is pretty affordable.

Here are 3, all decent smelling. The left one is vegan, sustainable, plastic free, good for the planet, etc if that is your thing.

I have a couple of French Connection body sprays which smell quite nice, not my usual brand, they came in gift sets I got at Christmas but I believe they are sold in Boots

Agree!
Can't stand Beckham (them!) but like you, been using his Instinct Sport aftershave and deodorants for years. It was first released about 10 yrs ago, I'd had an unsightly wart on my cheek of all places, that's my 'face' cheek by the way!

I'd tried everything from wart removal creams etc. My GP finally suggested it be cauterised and I was booked in to have it done. That weekend I bought some Instinct Sport (orange col makes it stand out from rest of Beckham range - although it now seems harder to get the aftershave). I'd shaved being careful to miss the bloody wart, then got my first bottle of the aftershave (has cool magnetic cap fitted - any tiny thing like this is a plus for me!) and I plastered the surprisingly nice spelling Instinct Sport on. I was hooked and really liked the smell and continued - then noted something even more surprising... the wart seemed to be disappearing. Bloody hell! I cancelled my appointment for the cauterising. A few more days and more 'Beckham', it had bloody disappeared, never to have returned thank god!
Probably sweet FA to do with the aftershave, but I continue to buy it, and the underarm. Thanks Dave!!
Other choices are available, but cheapest has to be good ol' Brut underarm, larger can 200ml and cheap as chips in some stores.

Try Sure Clean Scent Maximum Protection stick.

It’s like a very light cream - you need very little of it and it dries instantly. It’s not like the sticky roll ons or other sticks that tend be either too chalky or or a thick gel like Gillette.

It looks a bit more expensive than other deodorants but one lasts 2 months of daily use. A 2 pack in Costco is about £7.50 ish, so it works out pretty cheap overall. It also is the only deodorant I’ve used that genuinely doesn’t mark your clothes at all.

I’ve not bought anything else since I discovered it.

Futile but:

1. A deodorant is not an anti-perspirant.
2. OP says sweat prevention is not the issue, smelling nice is
3. OP wants a deodorant that smells nice but doesn't smell like a standard deodorant.
4. Aftershave or perfume is no good as they don't smell like a deodorant.
5. Petrol

Anyone know the difference in how long you tend to get from a stick v a spray with the Chanel type stuff?

As in how many weeks/months they last not the short term effect smile

Brut is the smell of barber shops and nobody under the age of 65 wears it. It's the smell of your grandad when you were a kid, before he gave up on life and only had a bath once a week on a Sunday night whether he needed it or not. The more audacious types would wear Old Spice instead.

In other news, I am chuckling at all the responses suggesting various 'fragrance-free' options when the OP specifically wanted something with a fragrance.

Another vote for Pitrok or any other crystal deodorant really.

Been using them for years and they're great. They last ages and leave no stains on your clothing too.

I don't like anti-perspirants either and use Gaultier 'Le Male' deodorant stick. Smell is nice and not too strong, really like it.

Trumpers and Taylors of St James do deo sticks that smell nice, in an old school way.

I use the strong anti perspirants now. Using Perspirex at the moment - they don't stain or gum up your arm pits and they are by far the most effective thing I've used. Much better than Pitrock etc for me. Scent free too.

Dove deodorant is now a ridiculous price though? Price is now at least 3x compared to 18 months ago. And they did the classic, price up and smaller cans thing.

Lush deodorant from the Lush stores. I've used it for years. I can't conceive of using any other.

I can use it for high intensity sports and not smell.
