Sensible food at sensible portion sizes solve most acid reflux problems for me.

I was on the PPIs for a few years until some recent experiments revealed that they hit the kidneys pretty bad. I have since limited the trigger foods and I rarely need them now.

Holidays are a different matter and if I know I am going to indulge then I will pop one every 2-3 days.

Good that you can manage without PPIs in the main. Mine are for managing a hiatus hernia (and associated issues) so have to be a little bit more careful.

Mine is for HH too, but does get aggravated by weight fluctuations, or eating a bit more than i should at a meal.

When i am careful i can do away with taking them for quite a while, but an episode of waking up drowning in acid overnight through a bad eating or drinking decision puts me back on for a few days at least before it settles again.

Same HH here... went on omeprazole for a few years but was concerned about long term use so I weaned myself off them...

seemed to be ok with regular exercise and some weight loss...

recently the acid is back, but I'm reluctant to go back on the PPI.

Am going to cut down on coffee, sugar, fatty foods and alcohol - hopefully that'll keep it under control
