A Curve running machine or something like it. It's a bit more expensive though.
I have one, it was used with couch to 5k, but I also have the frame work to use it as a push slegh.

https://www.ukgymequipment.com/cardio-machines-c11...

This is the frame I have, but bought this at half the price before COVID. I'm sure you can get them cheaper on eBay, but you'll need a proper team to collect and deliver. They're proper heavy.
Thanks but the budget for the whole room is c. £5k, given what we’ve spent elsewhere!

JTX Sprint-9 folding treadmill. Early issues with the console and a trapped internal cable, but quickly sorted under warranty and reliable ever since. Added an NPE Runn sensor for Zwift, which has been faultless.

Also:

- Studio bar with ~50 kg of weights
- Dumbell pair 1-10 kg rack
- 6 and 12 kg kettle bells
- Ab roller
- 2x foam rollers
- Massage gun
- Resistance bands
- Resistance loops
- Cordless jump rope
- Pull-up/ dip station
- TV on moveable wall arm
- 2x 3M fans

In the future if like to:

- Change the station for a cage with cable attachments
- Add a Concept 2 rower
- Add a static bike (Zwift compatible)
- Maybe change the studio bar for one designed towards lifting rather than classes (hope that makes sense!)

That's funny, I was also about to post recommending the JTX Fitness treadmills. I've got a Sprint-7 and have been very happy with it. The deck size is good for it's price and it has enough speed and incline for what most people would want.

https://www.jtxfitness.com/jtx-sprint7-motorised-h...

At that price, you could afford to buy it, and a brand new Concept 2 rowing machine for under £2000.

That's what I've done, plus an exercise bike I had. TV to keep me entertained whilst running, and a couple of fans to keep cool(er).

Cordless jump rope? A jump rope without the rope?

So was I. Then I bought a Renpho one and have been happily surprised. Perfect for indoor use.

I must admit, I didn't know these existed until a few minutes ago.

I was equally surprised at first, but then having watched the video I can see the purpose. Jump rope style workout which can be done in a small space indoors. I can't see why you'd ever want to use them outside in place of an actual rope though.

If I genuinely didn't have a suitable space to use an actual jump rope then there is no way I would be morris dancing with a pair of sex toys.

See if you can buy Olympic plates used to claw some budget back for other stuff. The good thing about lumps of cast iron is there's not much to go wrong with them so buying used makes little difference.

It’s worth checking Facebook Marketplace, eBay, second hand ex-gym equipment sites. I got my power rack for £90 from FB; Origin Fitness supplied my bar, weights, and dumbbells + rack at a large discount (~-40% from prices at the time, during COVID lockdowns). JTX Cyclo 6 bikes from £250 on eBay/FB.

I’m certainly going to be looking for used racks, weights etc - I sold my previous set up during COVID ahead of a house move - so realise you can get some good stuff at decent prices.

For a treadmill / rower I am more nervous about second hand given potential warranty issues and reliance on people having maintained the equipment properly.

I have a home gym and very seriously considering getting a Skierg machine. Partly as if it fits onto the wall it's a really good use of space with virtually no floor space taken up. It's around £800 which I can afford, just wondering if it's worth it.

I'd also like:
  • Medicine ball (may not be worth it)
  • Slam ball (may not be worth it)
  • Boxing bag (no room for it though and I have never boxed in my life but like the idea of it!)
I still go to a regular gym. I WFH and enjoy getting out of the house and around people. I generally also have better sessions at a proper gym. So it's a balance between what equipment I have when I only use it 2-3 times a week at most and having a good range of things to do in there.

I have a squat rack with cable attachment, olympic bar, some dumbells (both rubber hex type ones and 2x metal adjustable ones). Also have a skipping rope, Wahoo turbo trainer. an EZ bar and some resistance bands.

I wouldn't worry about buying a 2nd hand Concept 2 Rower. They're very solidly built - take a battering in CrossFit gyms where they're moved around day in, day out by members, and all parts can be bought individually at reasonable prices via their spares website if something does need a repair.

My second hand one has more than 4.8 million meters on it and it's fine - replaced the plastic rollers on the seat for about 20 quid that's all it's needed. Previous owner was on the local university rowing team & I picked it up for < 50% off the list price of a new one via Facebook Marketplace.

I looked at Smith machine and squat racks but went for a LifeFitness G7 cable machine and bench, it’s been fantastic. So many ranges of motion. Water Rower, easy to stand on end for space saving, Nordic Track treadmill, deck folds up, ditto, LifeFitness elliptical trainer and Saris smart trainer.

Has anybody got or used a ‘lever gym’?

I’m thinking of something like this: https://www.fitness-superstore.co.uk/powertec-work... but have no experience of them. I’ve used ‘lever’ type chest press machines in the gym and liked them.

I don’t want a bar/rack etc, although appreciate that’s the best option.

A quick google showed up some equipment but no price, which normally means ‘if you have to ask, you probably can’t afford it”!

I have a Mirafit cage and adjustable bench, 7ft bar and associated plates, a second hand concept 2, a jtx sprint 5 (new) and a second hand roadbike on a smart turbo trainer linked to zwift.

I've added a few larger resistance bands for assistance in pullups, a rack mounted pair of dip handles and a rack mounted lat pulldown which uses the olympic 2" hole plates.

Plates are a mix of bumper style so I can have the right bar height for rows and handled plates, so I can use them in hand for lunges and general waving around.

Reckon the whole lot came in under 3k and I bought my weights at about £3/kg during covid. £2/kg and less is more normal now.

Except the treadmill, it all fitted in a small shed too, though I've now upgraded. I certainly don't need anything else, but I have a few wants...
