Help with Alcoholics
Discussion
I randomly happened across this video recently. And it reminded me of this thread so thought I'd share it.
It seems to be en excerpt from a longer TV show which I'm unfamiliar with, but the fantastic performance from the actor really gave me a bit of a rude awakening about my own party/binge drinking type habits. Not that this is a common occurrence at all for me, but I could certainly recognise the similarities.

I read this thread because I have concerns for a friend who's been made redundant and is retiring as a result.
Constantly drinks when not working, consuming a bottle of whisky in 2 days plus beers and can't keep alcohol in the house without drinking it.
No hobbies to speak of, having read these stories, I'm now even more worried as working was the only thing keeping his drinking in check.
Job loss / retirement is a danger point. People have nothing else to do than sit at home and drink.Constantly drinks when not working, consuming a bottle of whisky in 2 days plus beers and can't keep alcohol in the house without drinking it.

Sister was rushed to hospital last night with liver and kidney issues (luckily seems to be stable at the moment). I've always known she was fond of a slurp but it appears to be more than that. Massively stressed (and depressed) thanks to work, but refuses to admit it for fear of seeming 'weak'.
It's interesting reading some of these threads, albeit rather depressing as there is a sick feeling that I can see some of the (not too distant) future - as upsetting as it would be for me I can honestly see it killing my parents too (already not in the best of health ).
Fingers crossed that I'm proven wrong
