Fast forward a few months and a fair amount of sweat....

Just passed the 10st loss milestone. It can be done chaps!
Few more months later, approaching the 12st loss mark now biggrin
Nice. Work.
F-King tremendous work clap

Go find a normal size bloke and give him a piggy-back up some stairs. That, along with trying on some fat lad jeans etc should bring into focus what you've achieved.

Hell, I feel pretty decent after having lost half that in most likely a significantly longer period & my shameful clothes (as an example) look boy vs man on me. You should be able to set up camp in yours smile. You must also be noticing the additional attention from the less ugly band of our lot?

Out of interest, how long has it taken?

Thanks!

I started in September 2011, hovering around the 14st mark at the moment, happy with my weight just need to focus on the shape from now on. Very happy with my shape at the moment given the loss, dodged a bullet in that respect. Just need to do some fine tuning!

I still have a pair of my old jeans, they look ridiculous!

Measured myself today, since joining the gym I'm down 2kg. At this rate it would take me 5-7months to reach my approximate goal weight. I'm not sure what to make of it, hopefully there's been a change and I am on a positive direction. Can't really tell as there's the whole 'muscle weighs more then fat' debate, and I'm lifting weights + doing cardio. So perhaps some fat as been converted to muscle. I am feeling a whole lot better generally though.

That's what counts. Also, do you look better in the mirror? I don't care about weight.

I don't care about the weight either, its just an easier way of measuring progress. It's only been a couple of weeks so I don't really notice anything in the mirror, I guess that will take time. Although I'd be rather annoyed if say, in 3months or more and I've not noticed anything.
I've taken some 'before' pictures, I'll take another in 2weeks time and do it every month.

Well, keep going. smile

I've lost 7kg in 6 months. I only know this because I weigh myself every half a year just for interest's sake. I couldn't give a st which way the scale goes as long as I look in the mirror and everything looks like it's how it should be or at least moving in that direction.

  • Jun 2011 I was 12st 5lbs having been on the 'Caveman Diet' for a month and switching to weights more than cardio, probably the best physically I have ever been.
Then slowly work got a bit tight, and the gym slowed up. Finished at the Gym around Oct 11.

Rejoined the Gym today at 13st 3lbs (after a week of eating healthy) back on my own modified Caveman Diet (basically not Caveman, as i'm throwing in a few carbs to cope with cycling, swimming and footy)

Got a ToughMudder to do May.

There's my YoYo weight over the years. Feel grotty at the moment.

Suppose I better join in, might give me the push to keep going making it public.

Bit of background info as I'm new (and might as well get my excuses out the way early). I'm a third year student in uni, which inevitably comes with all the usual pizza and beer temptations. I also work 20+ hours a week part time and currently putting in about 10 hours a day uni work to keep on top of it.

I lost 2 stone last September>early December on Atkins,of which I put half a stone weight back on straight after coming off it and then stabilised, however with all the hours sat at a desk and returning to old habits and the easy temptations (mostly pizza and chocolate)the weight is creeping up and I'm at 13 stone again now.

Decided to get up earlier in the day and start going to the gym at 7am before lectures, usually do half an hour cardio, half an hour weights (something I really enjoy) and half hour bobbing in the pool+10 mins in the Jacuzzi. Currently 13st and 5'8, and relatively built for my size, but podgy around the edges

Might as well put this up to encourage me to keep going. Started at the end of Jan, 6ft 2in and 139kg!!! weighed myself for the first time last week after cutting from 42/44 waist to a 38 and now 121kg smile.

I lost 7 stone in a year at 30 and now looking to do the same again at 40. But this time keep it off and stop being such a greedy bd. My problem is/was I eat when bored/tired/fed up and also drank heavily, now practically booze free and feeling lots better for it.

Right, diving in here because as I get older, my weight seems to be going up.

From the ages of 23-27 I was a constant 11st 7lbs and around 12%BF. I'm 5'11 tall, so within a healthy weight range for my height but I've never been 'skinny'. Maintained my weight by going to the gym 3 times a week and playing sport, coupled with an 'average' diet (I could eat what I wanted but didn't just eat crap, 3 meals a day and most of it freshly prepared, although I was on the booze most weekends).

Now 29 I find myself at 12st 2lbs. I think this is due to a more stressful job and recently moving house etc, meaning I've had less focus on my diet and exercise.

I'm not that fussed about my actual weight, but I'd like to see my waist heading back down to a proper 32", as opposed to the 33" - 34" I seem to be getting up to now. I'd also like to increase my upper body strength and see some more tone & definition.

So, last 3 weeks have been spent getting back into weightlifting at the gym, concentrating on form and re-learning various exercises. Now it's time to hit the weights harder alongside 1 decent cardio session a week. I'm going to maintain a ruthless focus on my diet and cut out alcohol completely too.

Here's hoping I can get back into those 32" trousers and shorts for summer. Good luck to everyone else giving it a go too!

May as well add to this. Last year I bought a road bike, started cycling again, did a 30 mile bike ride in a respectable time without stopping. Never thought I'd be that fit again and got down to 15st. Then I was ill over Christmas with various things and with the weather my weight is now 16st 4 @ 6'1. I've cut bread almost completely out of my diet, stopped eating late and on the bike again. Starting from scratch again and building back up to it. Trying to do 10 miles every other night than if I get a proper day off I try to do 30+ miles. Let's see how this goes and should give me motivation seeing others losing weight too. Got a holiday at the end of August so my stomach has to go. I'd love to be 14st but will take a lot of work and a proper plan. I'm not a fan of the cost of gyms and most of it I should be able to do at home. All the cardio I do on the bike.

Managed to lose and a stone and a bit since October. My solution? Can't remember the last time I ate breakfast and usually only eat lunch 3 times a week. No snacking means that I have lost a fair bit of weight.

Only exercise I get is walking around car shows and theme parks. Lazy 16 year old alert.

Seems like a lot of us are in the same boat and want to lose weight & get fit?

Would anyone be up for logging in here once a month to update their weight, so we can all see each others progress? (in my case nil so far) Just to add I have put the weight back on I lost earlier in the year, so need to re-focus and start again!

I'm up for the above.

Following on from a thread I posted last week where someone said I should post with my achievements. Lost 4 pounds over the last two weeks of starting at the gym.

If I'm honest, it was a little less than I was hoping for, but its in the correct direction at least! looking to get to around 13St.

I actually started on the 1st of june so have put that as my starting weight.

I am 22 years old and was 16 stone. I play football regularly for a decent sunday league team but my diet was just diabolical (too much fast food and booze as a student!) meaning I put a lot of weight on (4 stone in 3 years!).

Was told by the manager of a team quite a few levels above what I play at currently saying that technically i'm good enough to play at a higher level but my weight and lack of fitness would stop me. So i've been using those words as motivation to lose the weight and get as fit as ever. I'm aiming for 13 stone so have a couple more stone to go!

So far i've been doing pre season training 3 times a week, a lot of sprint and agility circuits including sprint circuits in sand dunes, as well as running 5k on the 'off' days. Dropped my 5k time from 30 mins down to 25 minutes so far, aiming for 22 minutes on this.
