This all sounds a touch extreme for the gentler end of this sub-forum.

Heart rate monitor gadget confused. Why would what are generally lard people need one? Never even crossed my mind (and I was lard).

Diet (i.e. lifestyle change (hackneyed phrase, I know)), a degree of patience and some reasonably regular & personally intense exercise sufficiently often, not followedw by social beers, is going to get pretty much everyone there.
Yup, far too extreme for my liking. My other half though has very mild asbergers, so when he gets into something he will do so 125% - that kind of rubs off on me. I'm quite happy going to the gym and doing a bit, but he'll tell me all about stuff I don't need to know biggrin Anyway, upshot is some people believe there is a heart rate zone where you 'burn fat' and another where you 'improve fitness'. I don't buy into it 100%, but did adjust my workout slightly, as I said, to cover the bases.

Back on topic, had my mid-week weigh in today, 18st 10lb, so only a couple of lbs to go to hit the 2st lost this year mark smile
My apologies, I wasn't aware that this was the gentler end of the sub forum. I liked the idea of the heart rate watch as I would probably end up trying to beat my calories burnt total every day as I'm odd like that. I have changed my diet a lot and am exercising more than I ever did, I was just looking for ways to keep myself motivated and to increase the weight loss in safe manner.

I tried HIIT on the cross trainer earlier on this week, pushed myself too hard and ended up throwing up a short while after my gym session. Switched back to my regular routine for now.
Not said in 100% seriousness. Just seemed a touch towards the more determined end of the world.

Perfectly possible to shift a raft of weight without such, err, commitment in that sense smile. Still, good to see that people are committed & that in all honesty is probably the most important thing.

Top work chaps. I've had my two week weigh in (saying that I do tend to check the scales daily annoyingly) and managed to drop 3 kg in the last two weeks. It's slightly annoying as I managed 5kg in the first two weeks but the key thing is I've managed to keep up my routine for a month now and have lost a decent amount of weight. I may need to look into changing my cardio routine now to see if theres any other machines I should use or other exercises I should be doing.

Very little exercise in the past two weeks but managed to keep my intake low. Only dropped 1kg in that time but its better than putting on weight. Need to get back into my gym routine this week.

That's a great effort over just eight weeks!! Well done smile

I haven't updated this in a while, but am still going at it. I'm now down to 17st 9lb, from my starting weight of 20st 7lb. I'm still going to the gym 3 times a week, but have relaxed the eating and drinking habits. Life is for living, and I'm quite happy to lose the next couple of stone over the rest of the year, whilst getting fitter in the process smile Dropping nigh on 3 stone has had a huge impact on my life. I'm much more confident in all scenarios, particularly bedroom antics!

Only downside is now I need a complete new wardrobe!!

Unless you really want to do it ASAP and/or are very committed, right answer for most people.
I spent several years losing mine. Right answer - tough call in some senses, I guess.

You'll probably need more than one new wardrobe, so I'd say do it as economically as is appropriate smile .

Thanks for the support guys, I have a long way to go but the first eight weeks have really shown me I can do this. It's just hard work in the gym and sticking to the plan. Having three days off between courses has let me have a couple of beers and a curry, so I am getting to still enjoy the occasional treat, although I didn't really miss either on my diet.

I am increasing my target to 2.5kg loss per week, currently averaging around 1.8kg loss per week.

Anyway good luck everyone on here.

Cheers
Jon

Ps I bought my first pair of size 40 jeans was a 44 previously smile

Feels good doesn't it!

I was a 42" waist on New Years Eve, currently wearing a 38", but am about to step down to 36"!

I you want some 38/32 Levis 501s as your next target, mine will be going spare!

Keep it up smile

Good stuff chaps.

Keep the 40+ trews. I have mine (along with XXL shirt) for reference point.
Mind you, waist is one the areas that's appeared to change dramatically for me (closely followed by face and neck)

Finally passed the 10kg mark. Not been paying about to what I've been eating the past few weeks to see whether I gained weight or not. Seems I have made a subconscious change to my eating habits as I stayed at 93kg for the whole time, sometimes above, sometimes below.

Starting back now, just 8.9kg to go to reach my target.

Update from me, since September last year I've returned to mountain biking as a hobby. Fitness is gradually improving, managed 47km this weekend including some proper hills!

I'm too through the 10kg mark, with another 9.7kg to go, aiming to hit this before I head to the US for two weeks at the end of July, and importantly maintain whilst I'm there!

Can anyone join in ?
I have got a lot to loose but really need to focus as am going away for a week in exactly a month, this could be the motivation !

Of course... add your vital stats on to the chart, and let us all know how you get on smile

Always good to have another in here offering moral support!

Ok - Brave decision !
So always been big but very active with it. Squash 4/5 times a week, walking the dog every morning etc.
Had a knee operation 18 months ago which I have never really recovered from and here we are today 5/6 stone heavier, no squash and really struggling with my back.
I am away for a week at the end of next month so really big push for that - aiming to swim every day between now and then and once a bit lighter then maybe some gym work (cross trainer / rowing low or non impact for example).
Family holiday the first for 3/4 yrs in August to Egypt must be slimmer for that......Can I make 105Kg for August ?
Wish me luck.

Forgot to post the results from my two week weigh in yesterday. I've managed to drop 10kg so far, lost a few inches on my gut and just under an inch on my waist by the looks of things.

Had a few lazy weeks recently so need to get back into the swing of things. At my peak I was burning 700 calories in a gym session and over 3000 calories in a week whilst keeping below 1700 calories of intake. That slacked down to 300 calories in a session and under 1000 in a week. However I have yet to go over my daily allowance of calories, can't bring myself to eat the late night takeaways that I used to indulge in previously.

Best of luck Coneyhurst Blue, it might seem like a royal pain in the backside for the first few weeks but stick with it!
