Hi, :waves:

Decided that I need extra motivation other than from myself to get into the whole lose weight and be fit thing.

Literally just weighed myself at 92kg. Am 5'6". So I guess that makes my BMI 32 which makes me sad.

On the plus side I quit smoking 5 months ago though. I think that's when I put on at least a stone, also Christmas time etc.

So I have started with the c25k app and have just finished week 2 day 3. Not looking forward to week three, that was the point that I gave up last time in February, so need to power through it I think.

I am working on getting my eating under control. Stuff happening with family at the moment has been depressing me and I tend to turn to food to make me feel better, which it does for about half a second then I feel gross for eating crap then I eat more crap etc etc etc. So I think making a concerted effort with that will help. Does anyone have any tips for this?

I will try and remember to do weekly weigh ins. Even if its not good news. ...

Ps goal weight is 76kg (realistic?)
Pps has anyone tried any of those fitness tracker band things, Nike fuel, fitbit etc? Worth it or fad? Any recommendations?

Hard as it may seem, you ought to be more concerned with the crappy diet than a bit of running, given where you are now. The exercise is good, don't get me wrong, but you're unlikely to be making up for bad food.

Diet tips - Smaller portions & either fairly iron commitment, take up smoking again or train like Michael Phelps. Not many magic bullets here - don't eat any meaningful quantities of processed crap unless prepared to pay the price. Learn to love Chicken salad.

Tools - I reckon the diet side of MyFitnessPal, along with brutal honesty, will do you the most good as things stand.

Another 2kg lost although I had a blip over the past few weeks, where weight refused to go down, despite exercising 6 days a week! It's moving now so thought I would put an update in smile
Just checked my body fat % using the scales and it's dropped from 30 to 18.5 in the 14 weeks I have been training and dieting. BMI is still 38 so still a lot of work to do!

Sod it count me in too. Better late than never and all that. Currently 6'3, 269lbs / 122KG - down from 279lbs about 4 weeks ago. I'll update the table later.

I'm 2 weeks into a new regime and loving being back in the gym again. I'm strength training and flab busting focused, so dieting to lose weight and weight training to gain muscle.
Routine is basically fasted cardio (brisk walk) for an hour first thing every morning, 3-4 days per week in the gym doing weights followed by 30 minutes of cardio (X-trainer).

Still working out the kinks in my diet, but it's going well so far. Worked out my macros using bodybuilding.com and set up a custom nutrition thingy on myfitnesspal - 30% protein, 45% carb and 25% fat. 15% calorie defecit with about 2600 calories / day target.
Supplementing with fat burners, protein shakes and if it's not a rest day, a pre-workout. All Muscle Pharm products. Also using BCAA.

Don't have a definite target weight in mind, more concerned with a long term lifestyle, but I've got a lads holiday in October, so keen to be in the best shape of my life by then.

I haven't lost much, just a few pounds but I'm noticing tons of positive changes - strength has gone up significantly and my upper body is starting to look quite different, which is nice. I'm not the type to do the before and after pictures publicly but suffice to say I'm happy with my progress and the mirror, and how much more I'm loading the bar up tells the real story.

Anyone looking to gain strength and burn blubber should take a good look at Stronglifts 5x5s http://stronglifts.com/5x5/. I've added my own stuff to it to suit my goals, but it's bloody brilliant IMO.

Hi folks wink

Thought I would be my butt in here for a bit of motivation. Years of yo yo dieting and getting nowhere has gotten me down. Last week I decided to detox the system with Aloe cleanse 9 and have to say it has given me hope. I no longer head for the coffee first thing in the morning, I'm smaller calorie meals and The Hairy Dieters book was a godsend.

Because I am running about after childminding kids and my own I find myself picking at things I make them. I like the idea of convenient milkshakes to fuel up on instead of snacking so I am now giving PHD Diet Whey a go. Using the same way as you would Slim Fast and having a proper low cal meal at night.

Well done with everyone's loss, keep it going.

I guess you're not getting too much motivation from the raft of repliessmile.

In terms of what you're doing, if it gets you started then it isn't a bad thing, but I doubt it will ever be a long term solution. Better to change your diet with vaguely proper food before using shakes of any description. They have their uses, but you could look at other things first.

Feeling the burn! Now down to 12st 7lbs from my starting weight of 14st 2lbs.

In the last 3 weeks I seem to have been losing inches (still lots to go though). Glad I took some before pictures (will be something to reference when I want to give up)

Long overdue update for me. Kept at it for the past few months. Upped my game in July when I had a friendly wager with a mate to see who could burn the most calories. He managed 11,639 and I managed 20,006. Instead of buying me afternoon tea for winning the wager my mate bought my a swimming lesson as I can't swim!

At the start of August I was 70kg according to my scales. A month later I was 73! Switched gyms in July to a recently opened PureGym which had way better machines than my old gym. Switched again this month to a local gym which recently had a full cardio overhaul and has a myzone hrm setup which lets me track my workouts and compare them with my mates.

I've shed most of my excess fat but still have some left which is annoyingly on the front. Got some personal trainer sessions booked to work on my core to shift it. Still have a couple of takeaways at the most per week but tend to stick to grilled chicken and fewer chips.

It's been hard work but well worth it. Had plenty of "you've lost weight/you're looking slimmer" comments which is nice and helps my motivation. Speaking of which, motivation has dipped at times but I guess that's normal. To quote Bob Kelso - "Nothing worth having in this world comes easy". Keep at it chaps!

I've not posted in here for a while either!

Having started at 20st 7lb, and having got down to 17st 5lb, I was really chuffed!

Then summer got in the way! Work for me is very seasonal, and this summer was manic. Unfortunately I slipped into old habits! Im still at 17st 7lb, but that weigh in flatters me. I've put on a lot of fat, obviously also lost a lot of heavy muscle I gained at the gym.

Gym membership is still running, so I'm back on it. Been twice this weekend. Let's see if I can recover the situation!

Great stuff smile

Not sure if I'll manage another 20kgs, but I want to get down to the 100kgs mark, then reevaluate from there 😃😃

Off on holiday on oct 15th.... Going to put in some time with the weights and try and shrink the moobs!

I hit another slump but I'm attempting to drag myself out of it. Motivation is the key thing. I've discovered I can stream stuff from Netflix in the gym so that's one way of keeping myself entertained on the cardio equipment. Keep it up folks smile

A bit of entertainment does help... I use the BBC iPlayer app alot too. I get a good 4G signal in the gym, so can watch live tele in there in the evenings.

This week I've managed three straight days of gym action, plus I've gone cold turkey on booze and coffee, and I'm down to consuming 1200-1500 cals per day. The fruit bowl is out at work, the chocolate biscuits are locked away.

I might fork out for some PT sessions too, make sure what I'm doing at the gym is right.
